Geez. You guys have been busy busy since the last time I was on. Not even watching the oscars tonight. I'm so out of touch w/ movies, it wouldn't be worth it. Sort of sad for someone who was a theatre major and is currently employed in the tv/entertainment industry. :sad2:

Well, poor DS was really sick today. Fever and all, so he's safely tucked away in a tylenol induced slumber, and I'm exhausted, so I'm going to go off and find something non-nutritious and easy in the fridge to eat (DH is out, and I never manage to cook anything healthy when its just me. I normally eat w/ DS on nights that I'm home, but he just wasn't hungry. I managed to talk him into some juice and some applesauce w/ cinnamon, but that was it.)

Keep up the smiles everyone. And, good luck w/ the thread counts.. there's a lot of you getting so close!

I have less than zero interest in the Oscars. I rarely go to the movies anyway, and the good movies are almost never honored. I haven't seen a single nominated film this year. Never even heard of most of them!

DD is also under the weather. No fever, but cough, congested head, etc. The kids had their awards dinner for cooking school tonite. The 17 new Master Chefs prepared dinner for 50+ people and then served it in style. It was awesome! I was afraid DD was gonna have to wear a surgical mask to cook in! But thanks to cough medicine, Sudafed, and a 3 hour nap, she was fine. Hopefully it won't go beyond the current level--she can't afford to miss any school!!

We must must be posting at the same time. That awards dinner sounds so cool! Glad DD was able to do it. Hope she's feeling better.

:cheer2: Ratoullle just won!!! Gee at least I know one movie they are talking about:rotfl2:. The rest is like listening to NPR :mic: :mic: in soft voices of course!

Sounds like she should drop the schemes and talk to MagiKitty, our one and only lottery winner... just remember to be specific in the prayers as she said! :rotfl:

That's really cool that you got to experience something like that. I think its something everyone thinks about at least once, but most of us talk ourselves out of it w/o even trying. Here comes a very cliche - "YOU GO GIRL!" :cheer2:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I agree!!! But, funny none-the-less.

Insert snobbish golf clap applause here... :snooty: :snooty:
(Of course followed by heartfelt congratulations and a few laughs...)

Good for you for raising a girl with some sense. You obviously did a great job teaching her the value of money. Its a tough thing to do these days. I hope I can do as well w/ DS.

BTW - Dreamin'... was it you that mentioned the Celtic Classic oh so many pages ago? I know it happens near you. We're actually thinking of going up for the Winter Classic next weekend.

Sorry about DS, mine is sick to:sick: lots of nasty stuff going around. Hope he is feeling better, time for motrin for mine and hopefully bedtime. No school tomorrow, another trip to my( I can't miss a month), Ped's.
i bet if it was tv production you would be interested more, and I'm sure the Tony's bring out the theatre major in you.*For me it use to be the grammies but considering they now seem to represent only one type of music w/a few token nominies thrown in that doesn't work for me either. Love music, and many types but hate when a major music award ignores the big picture out there. Okay off my soapbox, about award show's. Feel better DS here's a few:beach: pixiedust: :wave2:.

Don't forget, you also know a Jen-You-Ine Plus Size Model!!!:lmao:

I guess I'm not the only one not watching the Oscar's!! You've led a interesting life and one fill w/longerburgers:thumbsup2. Your getting closer to your vet status:goodvibes.

Gee, I'm starting to be relieved that DD is such a tomboy! She's perfectly happy with jeans and a T-shirt.

And yes, my kids do have cell phones (for emergencies only, and they are very responsible with them), iPods (GREAT for travel!), a Wii (Chirstmas gift from me this year, and I get to play it too!!!) and Nintendo DSs (also great for travel, altho Danny would play his 24/7 if I let him), but to be honest, they've acquired these over several years, and the Wii is their first ever game system. I try hard NOT to spoil them with "things". I would much rather splurge on vacations to cool places. How many 11 and 12 year olds can say they've been to Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Disney, and Turkey (twice each) as well as an Alaska cruise, a cruise from Boston to Montreal (with July 4th fireworks on the Charles River), a Disney cruise, and a Mississippi riverboat cruise? Not to mention visiting lots of the states in the US (our goal is all 50!!). I think that's much more worthwihile than all the "stuff" some kids accumulate. JMHO...

I know a very jealous 30 year old who can't say that either!! :wave2:

Although, I just noticed your trip countdown to Scotland. Thats one I have done. Where are you headed?

I must be too! the last thing up was what I just multi quoted on the both of you. Cool about the dinner and cooking school, love it! Kids today can't boil water, those of us a bit more mature then growing up w/microwaves the joke always was she can't boil water. It is the ick ick sick month:scared:

:rotfl: You crack me up!

We are flying to London, taking the train to Edinburgh, and taking the Royal Scotsman (fancy train) all around the Highlands for a week. Then we will take a train from Edinburgh to Glasgow to Dumfries and spend 2 days down in the Dumfries/Annan area, where my ancestors came from. Then it's back to London via train and fly home. My dad is a HUGE train buff, which is why that is our preferred mode of transport. And the Royal Scotsman takes us to so many cool places with interesting activities that we'd never be able to do on a regular trip. I've waited 25 years to get a chance to go to Scotland, and I am SOOOOOOOO excited!!!

DD is determined to be a chef when she grows up, and they've both always had an interest in cooking. So when this place opened near us, I signed them up. They love it. Thursday night they are going to cook dinner for us! They both get their own breakfast, and lunch on weekends. I used to do that too at their age, but we had no microwaves back in the dark ages!:lmao: I keep telling DS that when he's in college, or afterwards living on his own, he will be SO grateful for the ability to cook himself a good meal! And just think how happy his wife will be someday!:)

Ratatouille won!!! YAY!!!! At least one good movie!! :rotfl: about the NPR!

Yes, I've led an interesting life, for sure. Not the one I expected, but interesting nonetheless. And my post count just keeps climbing and climbing and...

Good Monday morning everyone! Well, the Oscars are over, and I'm glad there were a few surprises. There's a lot of renting I'm going to do in future weeks. Of course, those of you with sickly little ones were well occupied! So sorry to hear about the illnesses running around, this winter has been brutal and it seems as soon as one person recovers, another comes down with the "sickies". I hope everyone feels better and gets back on track with things.

whgrn...how cool that your DD has taken cooking classes! We didn't have home ec at my school, and I grew up eating Filipino foods. I've tried to teach myself how to cook other foods, which entails mainly watching Food Network. I wish I had learned to cook earlier, but its never too late! You must be so proud of her. Maybe you should take a trip up here, to visit the Culinary Institute of America near Poughkeepsie! You have to make reservations weeks in advance, but I've heard its a great experience! I'm not too far from there and have driven by several times, its a beautiful campus.

Made BF stay up with me last night through the end of the Oscar show, even I was frustrated with how long it took. He still thinks that its weird that I dress for the show, but when else do I get to wear a full length gown? At least it sees the light of day once a year...

Beautiful day altogether, but grrr! They're predicting snow AGAIN for tomorrow! Will it never end? Positive thoughts, positive thoughts....good day everyone!

Bound and determined!!! You're almost there:cheer2:. My DS is home sitting on hold w/Drs. He goes right into sinus infections:sad2:. He was looking at the post (likes the smilies) and congratulated me on being a Dis Veteran :rotfl:.
Good morning Killers

:rotfl: :confused3 Doesn't everyone where a full length gown??

Free the full length gowns! :groom:

They're just taking up precious space anyway. Wear them at all inappropriate times and occasions. Its nice to remember what you look like outside of sweat pants. Last night I got reacquainted with my bustline...I was like, "hello again! Haven't seen you in weeks. How have you been?" :lmao:

Why is there a smoking smilie? (someone brought that up yesterday) He looks rather sinister...

:rotfl:
It was me, they moved the smilies around:confused3. They always had them when you clicked the 'more' link. What I don't get is the moved many that were used quite often and now you have to click the link and scroll down and find them instead of them being to the right of you posting board. I could see them putting the Happy Birthday and Welcome and why not the pixie dust??? I don't think the motorcycle the smoking and what is up w/ the red nose green hair guy??

Maybe it's suppose to be your really smokin mad???? Of course there are many threads on the boards that people us it alot:rotfl2:.

It's Monday, everybody needs to check in, where is everyone????

Morning all!!!! Beautiful day here so far. Too bad they want freezing rain tomorrow and maybe snow on Wednesday. How long till spring?

MagiKitty-sounds like you had a fun night. I can't remember the last time I watched the oscars. Of course, I can't remember the last time I saw a movie nominated for an oscar either. :rotfl2: Playing dress up...we still do that around here. Stepmom offered to let us rent dresses for the wedding but no way! I needed a new dress for just that special occasion at home. Or maybe for Disney the next time we go :lmao:

disney54us-Hope DS is feeling better soon. :tinker: pixiedust:

whgrn-That's cool about the cooking class. It's great they both found something they enjoy. I've been teaching DD12 how to cook for a couple of years. By the way, do you think when they are famous chefs, they will cater our business meetings? :goodvibes Maybe we could get a deal too since their mom is a famous model too. ;)

:clown: This guy? Just plain creepy, but then again, I've never liked clowns or mascots.

And when will I use the painting guy too? I think we should now post using all the less-loved smilies. Give them a chance to rock too.

That being said....:boat: (coz I will prolly never use him otherwise)

:rotfl: :rotfl2:, Do you think this was a mistake or are they trying to give all smilies a chance and not be left out:confused3. I think we should ask Kayla our mod/friend from the welcome board, what's up w/this. Here's thinking :beach:. Not big on clowns either, and that's a really poor excuse for one.
