i hope you do get back there before retirement age! it was really important to our marriage, i think. you kind of think, oh yeah, this is why i married you! you know, especially with the little ones demanding so much of your attention, and then so much of your conversations with your husband. we once went away further out on the island for 2 nights when our DD was 5 months old (over 3 years ago). that was the last time, so we needed it!
as you can see from above, we had a GREAT time. we had an easy time at the parks just doing whatever WE wanted. also we were just there a few months ago with the kids so there were a lot of memories. here's a funny one (looking back it's funny). we all went to the boardwalk (there were 15 of us), we had a great time, and were just eating our ice cream when my son just started throwing up all over the place and especially himself. he was in the stroller so it was really disgusting! my husband was at the boardwalk for a business dinner a few nights before i got there. so he was walking past the spot of the incident, and pointed it out to his friend. he told him what happened and was like "oh i miss him so much!"
but we were reminded of how well we get along. i hope that makes sense! you know how it is, to just be alone for a change, without someone needing you every 10 seconds!!
i'm so glad we went. true, we really missed them, but we had a great time, too.
i just had to tell you that the south beach diet worked so well for me after i had my daughter. my husband did it too, and i did the recipes in the book, so it was easier. good luck!
