Okay, I don't think they got the time thing corrected but know it seem it's only off by 15 mins. or so:confused3. Booked another day:dance3:, so now I have the Tues. before T-day, Wed, T-day and Friday. Baby steps:rotfl: one day at a time!

Okay forget that, the do have the time right:thumbsup2, within a couple of mins.

Wow, what a big difference so far. This is great...except now I won't have time to get another cup of coffee while a new page loads.:rotfl:

:rotfl2: That's what I would do!!

So what did everyone do last night while the boards were down? I decided to finally start organizing all my photos on the computer. What a mess that was. It was worse than cleaning the house.:goodvibes

Wow, organizing before the New Year:thumbsup2!

it's definitely faster! thank you tech gods!!

i know you talked about freezing ham a few days back (i've really been missing from my favorite thread for a WHILE) - i just wanted to add, i always freeze the ham slices in one bag, then i put the entire hambone, plus a ton of extra meat on it, in foil, then a bag and freeze it. then i can use the hambone and meat for the most excellent split pea soup. i'm NOT a fan of ham, but i absolutely adore this recipe for soup. come to think of it, i got it from a disney cookbook online somewhere. mmmm, just thinking about it makes my mouth water!!

well i'm off to put together a million toys!

Mmmm, my mom does that, I love her split pea soup, oh and you have to have croutons in it, yum!:).

good morning everyone...okay almost afternoon haha
Good mafternoon to you too.
Thanks for the :thumbsup2 on the bike. It's been too much fun.
We even got DM(75)one for her Christmas too. When DH pulled it out of our bedroom on Christmas Day she looked to me like, here's your bike!. Funny thing was it was hers!
My Mom is way cool for her age. I "hooptied" up her bike for her with a bell, a horn, a cool detachable basket(she lives 10 blocks from a weekly farmer's market) and TireFlies-the raindbow lights that spin colors when the wheels move. I told her we were going for "crazy lady of the block" when she rides around. She had never gotten a bike for Christmas-check something else off the "bucket list".
She is now looking for a bike carrier for a Mini Cooper. I told her she needs a car carrier for her bike, since that is such an itty bitty car.:lmao:

Well, I gotta get back on TGM to finish planning for June and December '08.

:worship: Tech Gods that made the board faster!

Check in later.popcorn::

Hey ya'll!

wow! ya'll have been chatty. Glad to know we're faster. I'm not sure if I'll be able to tell a big difference with my ancient computer.

My main question with the APs is whether you ordered them ahead and got the vouchers or got them on site. Did you like the way you did it? Yesterday we got a Disney Rewards thing saying the had a program where you get 5X the point in Jan, Feb & Mar. I could rack up a lot of extra pts by putting Aps on there. Was thinking I should go ahead and purchase before we go so I can transfer pts to reward card before we go.:confused3 Can you do the AP thing at the hotel desk that sells regular passes, or does it have to be guest relations at DTD or one of the parks? ANd finally, can I call MS at DVC and order them if I decide to do it ahead of time? WHew! That's a lot. Did it make any sense? ANy help would be appreciated.:)

P2H-Probably not on the Winnie the Pooh thing at ASF. Between Christmas, DS's b-day in 2 weeks (he'll be 1 yr old!) and WDW trip in FEb, we're strapped for cash too. I wish it was later in the year.

Gotta go. Talk to you later TKers!

She is now looking for a bike carrier for a Mini Cooper. I told her she needs a car carrier for her bike, since that is such an itty bitty car.:lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Toooo funny!!! They really ARE tiny tho.

Magsnden, can we get that split pea soup recipe? I LOVE split pea soup!

Love the speed on here now, but they seem to have lost all my subscriptions! I had NO notifications of any posts on the Dis, even here on TK (and obviously there HAVE been quite a few posts! :lmao: )

I decided to go test drive the Toyota Highlander Hybrid today and ended up buying it, well ordering it. They said it'd be about a month, which I had expected. Well, dip me in butter and call me a biscuit! They will have it MONDAY MORNING! So at noon on NY Eve, I'm picking up my new car!!! I have loved my Toyota Sienna minivan for 4 years, and would have just kept it, but at 16 miles to the gallon, it just seemed irresponsible to me. The Highlander will get nearly twice that much, which makes me feel a whole lot better about it. (I rationalize spending money very well, don't I?:rotfl: )

So, 2008 is gonna be MY YEAR! New car. Significant weight loss. Walking program to increase stamina. And best of all, a trip to SCOTLAND!!!!!!!:cool1: It just doesn't get any better than that! Well, unless we could add, say, a trip to DISNEY!!!:rolleyes1 Ah, well, maybe in '09... Has anyone here done a Disney cruise over Christmas? I was wondering about the weather--too cold? Maybe next Easter? Guess we'll have to see. I feel naked not planning another Disney trip! (Oh, well, I guess I'll just have to suffer through planning for Scotland...!!!)

Just having another relaxing day here today. After the car dealer, we went to WalMart to exchange DS's LEGO StarWars thing he got 2 of, and he was thrilled to find something he didn't know existed! So he ended up with 2 different ones, for the price of the one he traded in. DD got the "Underdog" DVD, even tho Wally's wouldn't accept her duplicate DVD of Shrek 3 for refund--guess we gotta try Tar-jay. And, since the new car doesn't have a DVD player (I would have had to get the package with the nav system that I don't want or need, and it would have been like $4000 extra---NOT!!!!), I got 2 nice inexpensive portable DVD players and headphones so they can each watch their own DVD on long trips. Savings? Only about $3750!!!

So now here I sit, catching up on the Dis, and then I'm gonna finish my book--Rhett Butler's People. It's the authorized novel based on Gone With The Wind, that tells things from Rhett's perspective. It's really good! If any of you are GWTW fans, I'd highly recommend it. It's probably best if you've read or seen GWTW, since it refers to stuff often, but you might do OK reading it even without knowing the story of GWTW.

TTYL!

Good mafternoon to you too.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :goodvibes Love the bike thing! Your mom sounds, great! Question TKM???:confused3

I purchased them when I was there at guest services in the parks. That was late 05, so check on the DVC, site or call MS you know they change things all the time and for some reason I believe that you can purchase them at the desk at check in now. I know if you want to renew them, prior to expiration you can do so over the phone. I would charge them if you can get the extra pts., but when are you going?? You don't want to purchase AP passes months in advance since they do expire every yr. and not get use out of them. Hope this helps, anymore questions, just ask:goodvibes

Hey, TK'ers that were on before shutdown, did we go out as the lead thread???:rotfl:

Wgrn -

Scotland!!! I'm so jealous. DH and I honeymooned in Ireland and Scotland and it was the best vacation ever (ok, tied with Disney). The people are wonderful, the country is beautiful. And everything is just so steeped in history. I would love to go back someday, but there's so many other places to see first before we do any repeats. Disney is the only repeat allowed at our house until we've been everywhere we want to go, and even that we've only done twice. (Well, we've done Vegas a few times too, but that's b/c I had business trips there, and the only way we could afford vacations was with my flights being paid for!)

Probably signing off for the night, so I'll see y'all later.

Have a safe and Happy New Year!

Okay, :confused3 I missed the Scotland thing? Who went? did you wgn?:confused3 . It's to early for me to not get it:rotfl: I thought I was all caught up.

Really recent post, just the last page. Wgrn is going sometime in 2008. We haven't pried the details out yet though.

Okay I get it now, somehow I missed a page:confused3. How nice about the new car and trip to Scotland:banana: you go girl!! Same here, I'm not getting notifications about new post:confused3, and I hate to say this, but when I click to post it is starting to take long again:sad2:, you know go get a refill from the Kitchen as you wait. Wondering if any of you were on this morning and on tonight are noticing a difference??

I just checked my subscriptions and they're all there, but I'm not getting any notifications either. Hope they fix that real soon.

Congrats on the new car, weight loss, and trip to Scotland! :woohoo: We went to Ireland in 2004, and it was not as much fun to plan as a trip to Disney! No friendly message boards, for one thing. I had to rely mostly on books and a travel agent who was horrible (never again!) The trip itself was awesome, however!

We did the Disney cruise in early January 2005 (cheapest time). It was fun, but the water was cold for swimming (to me), but then I hate cold water and won't even get in our pool until about July.

I've never heard of that book, but I love GWTW, so I'll have to see if the library has it. Who is the author? Have you read "Scarlett" (sequel to GWTW)? I've got it, but have never read it. I think I'm afraid I'll be disappointed.

AUDisFan - We've had AP's several times since 2001 and have always gotten them in advance. A couple of times by calling WDW directly, once from the Disney store in Douglasville, GA, and once from the Disney store in the Orlando airport. I'd go ahead and get them early to get the rewards points (btw, I didn't get that offer :confused3 ) I'm not sure about getting them at the front desk, but I believe that you get a discount if you're a DVC member, so if you are, then definitely order them from there.

My DH would like to go to Scotland. Maybe one day.

I got my 5 X's Disney points today in the mail. If you haven't gotten yours, maybe it's on the way. If not call or go to the website.

Does seem like the DIS is working better.:thumbsup2

Meant to mention this in my last post. Missed the party last night because I went to the mall with my DD and friends. The same friends from the chocolate fondue fountain I posted a while back. We shopped and then went to see "I Am Legend" :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: We were 4 screamy girls in the back row. My friend and I kept clinging to each other and watching the movie with our hands over our eyes peeking through our fingers. I don't do scary movies but this was a bonding, funny moment. None of us expected this. We didn't do the research on what the movie was about.:confused3
On the way home DD and I were still shaking but laughing hysterically at the same time. DD thanked me for a wonderful evening. What we do for our kids.:rolleyes1
My friend and I told our DD's that next time it's at the house, in our PJ's, eating chocolate, watching a COMEDY.:lmao:
When I got home around midnight, I tried to get on the DIS and saw it was down. Glad it's all fixed now and running faster.:worship:

whgrn-ooh, scotland and a new car. And to think you have to suffer through planning that trip.:lmao: Seriously, hope you have a great time planning what sounds like a wonderful vacation.

Bopsmom-that bike is so awesome.

disney54us-I noticed about the boards too. Thought it was just my computer since it has a mind of it's own. And it sure as heck does not like to co-operate with me most days. Glad I'm not the only one who noticed.

Off for now, trying to cook dinner and dis at the same time just isn't working.

Congrats on the new car, weight loss, and trip to Scotland! :woohoo:
:yay::cool1: :cool1:congrats from me too :yay:
DM Loves Scotland and goes with her friends often-notice she hasn't taken me:rolleyes: I will have to hold WDWChristmas '08 trip over her head till she agrees to take me along on her next trip. Can't wait to hear details !
I hate cold water and won't even get in our pool until about July.
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: me too!!

I don't think you will be.:goodvibes I was given that book years ago. I actually liked Alexandra Ripley before she wrote this. Mitchell is a tough act to follow. I enjoyed all 800+ pages. Not an easy beach read because of the weight of the book.
They made a mini series of the book in 1994.

Thanks Dreamin' in PA it is soo comfortable to ride. Funny how I reverted to a Coaster Bike after all these years. :rotfl: I have a (some outrageous speed) bike hanging in the garage and quit riding because leaning over and looking up gave me terrible neck pain. I guess everything comes full circle.
Actually, I wanted to get a pink Schwinn Stingray with the sissy bar and a white with flowers banana seat. No kidding, they still make them. It would embarass DD to no end!:lmao:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :goodvibes Love the bike thing! Your mom sounds, great! Question TKM???:confused3
TGM stands for TourGuideMike. I subscribed to www.TourGuideMike.com to plan our trip. He is a sponser on the Travel/Planning Board. I used him years ago, and since I am "responsible" for another family's first trip to WDW I decided to check out his advice. My only concern is that so many people use him that maybe his "hints" are becoming too well known-thus negating the advantage. I guess we'll see.

a quick note to say i will definitely share the split pea recipe. it's soooo good you should all try it! do you think i should pm it to those who want it?

also, whgrn, i'm equally jealous. we went to ireland with another couple the summer after we were married. it was the BEST trip ever! i don't feel bad saying that, because for me disney is a different kind of trip! so disney is the best trip ever of its kind, and ireland the best of its kind!! i've never seen such a beautiful place, it was almost too much beauty!!

by the way, i'm from long island and we will forever call it great adventure!!

more later, i know there's more i wanted to say!

also no notifications for me either  hopefully they'll fix it. i wonder if we have to subscribe again.

Good grief! I've been trying to reply for about 10 min now. When I clicked reply it took forever and then told me the server was too busy, so I had to start all over. Is it the boards or my gramps computer? No notifications here either.

Anyway, now I can't remember what all I wanted to say.:headache:

whgrn - Count me in as one of the jealous ones. I so want to go to Scotland and Ireland. I hope you have a great time. I got Rhett Butler's People for Christmas and can't wait to read it. DS is named Rhett. My brother gave me a framed picture of Rhett and Scarlett for Christmas. Congrats also on the car. "Dip me in butter and call me a biscuit"? Are you sure you're not a Southerner?

disney54us & praise2Him - Thanks for the advice. We're going in Feb :woohoo: and plan to go back in Dec, so I need to go ahead and do it if I'm going to do it in advance. Got my notice about 5 x points in the mail yesterday.

Bopsmom - Your Mom sounds soooo cool. :thumbsup2 Love the bike thing.

I know there was more but I can't remember now.

Okay, next question. Has anyone ever celebrated a birthday at WDW? My Daddy will be turning 68 when we're there in Feb. I would like to embarrass, um I mean honor him as much as possible while we're there. I know about the "It's my birthday" buttons and the cakes you can order. Planning on doing those. Is there anything else?

Have a great night everyone!

I had the same problem. Keep getting kicked off. Maybe they are still fine tuning some stuff.:confused3

Haven't done a birthday but did our 20th Anniversary. Didn't know about the button. Did let hotel know and all the restaurants we ate at. We stayed at the All Star Music resort and came back to our room with a balloon and card on the door from Mickey and Minnie. Chef Mickey at the Contemporary gave us a cupcake for breakfast.:confused3 The Coral Reef brought us out a fancy dessert with Happy Anniversary written in gold on chocolate. It was beautiful. You can also order stuff. We just didn't have it in our budget.

AUdisfan-I just had the exact same problem, If it had taken any longer, I would have fallen asleep. Hope they get the boards fixed soon.:wizard: And about your birthday question, if you eat at the coral reef (don't know if you made all you ADR's already), the last time I checked, you can have a diver hold up a "Happy Birthday" sign. I think they also did personalized menus. I had planned to have it done for my mom back in August but I'm sure you could find more up-to-date info on the resaurant board. Oh yeah, at the time I booked it, they were both free.

magsnden-since you and whgrn are pretty local to me, everytime I see "great adventure", it means the amusement park. Is that what you meant, if you don't mind telling.

Bobsmom-embarassing my kids....now that's what I live for. DD11 gets it the worse but that's only because she thinks parents are the most uncool thing in the world. I told her when we go on vacation next year, I WILL buy the big Goofy hat to wear along with all my clothes that are "so out of style" and ride It's a Small World singing the words to her.:rotfl: Ok, maybe I won't sing and spare everyone else.

And for all those who followed the adventure of my Christmas with SIL. She finally called me today. She believes she has no reason to apologize because she "doesn't remember the fight". Out of all the drama that went on, that certainly takes the cake. :sad2:  I truly feel sorry for her. And I only hope one day she can open her eyes and grow up a little.

Have a great night everyone...though I'm sure I'm the only one still up to post.:rotfl:

i tried to check back here last night, but it was taking so long, i had to give up. :confused3

i thought i was all caught up, but did i miss a picture of the cool bike? i remember reading about how bopsmom got her mom a bike but it sounds like everyone has seen it. hmmm.

when we ate at the coral reef last month, we saw someone holding a happy birthday sign. it was really cool. also i don't think i mentioned this but we saw one diver propose to another underwater. it was soooo cool, he got down on one knee and everything!

dreamin - we are most certainly talking about the amusement park. but i have to tell you that growing up we went to hershey EVERY summer for about 7 years!! i am so excited to take my kids there, maybe next summer. also my sister went to college in york, pa.

see you later, i have to go get the recipe!

Magsnden

Dreamin in pa
DD will be 11 soon, I think it is the age.
I didn't say earlier but DH and I were playing DDR with her friends. We thought it was funny and so did her friends-she wasn't amused :snooty: :rotfl: Nothing like the sight of a middle-aged man dancing to Disco Inferno being cheered on by 2 other(other thanDD) 10 year old girls. :rotfl2:

At least you go to It's a Small World-that darn song gets stuck in my head for weeks after. I wanna go to Hershey, Pa. mmmmm
MIL is from PA but the closest we ever got was Eaton to the Crayola Factory.

As for SIL, she may have forgotten the fight, make sure didn't forget the uninvite for the vacation. Strange how some people develop selective memory.
Was there enough left over of the snowglobe to maybe take it to a clockshop to have the globe repaired? If the base is ok, small clockshops, antique shops can usually replace the globe.
