I love the pickle thing - we have three pickles on the tree, and I only have on dd6 who has never looked for it! But I just really like the idea. My nieces used to race each other to the tree to find the pickle.
You should be able to find a pickle ornament lots of places that sell them. If not, pm me and I may dig one out in a couple weeks and send you one... share the pickle! Wait, that sounds inappropriate. Hmmmm :lmao:

ha ha ha :rotfl:

The OP of the postcards also posted on here. Page 6, about halfway down. #64

Welcome home Queen PepperW23!

Here's what I was told about the little pickle man (I've already professed my love for him)

“A very old Christmas eve tradition in Germany was to hide a pickle [ornament] deep in the branches of the family Christmas Tree. The parents hung the pickle last after all the other ornaments were in place. In the morning they knew the most observant child would receive an extra gift from St. Nicholas. The first adult who finds the pickle traditionally gets good luck for the whole year.” This Christmas pickle story, with a few minor variations, can be found all over the Web and in print inside the ornament package. It says that Germans hang a pickle-shaped glass ornament on the Christmas tree hidden away so it's difficult to find. The first child to find it on Christmas morning gets a special treat or an extra present."

we also do the pickle on the tree, we're not german (irish) but some friends gave us the pickle when they heard we didn't have one.
the child who finds the pickle, gets to open the first gift. right now, it's always our daughter since our son is only 18mos old!

aww, Shmu! :wave2:

Speaking of Christmas trees.... Since it seems we go from Holloween right to X-mas these days (they are already playing x-mas songs on the radio since last week) how soon does anyone put up there tree? We may do it earlier this year.

I dunno, I like to wait until at least the first week of Dec. I put the office tree up the day after Thanksgiving. That seems to be a good day. :goodvibes

We usually put up our Christmas tree the second week in December and (if it lasts) take it down the second week of January! :goodvibes I am really looking foward to this one as we have a new baby to celebrate it with!!! :santa: :goodvibes

That's when we usually do it, but since we haven't taken our Holloween stuff down yet, we may do it this weekend all at once.

Been talking about the prelit trees this year. I nearly threw last years tree out because of the darn lights:mad:

Trust me, prelits have thier drama too haha. If you lose the little letters off of the cords in the tree it is hard to get them right again and the tree won't light. I was ready to throw the thing out last year..Lucky for me DD is smarter that me haha.

THREAD KILLERS UNITE!!!!!!!!!!!

That's how this thread started. Hope you keep posting.

I just found this thread, and I hate to burst your bubbles, but I am the MOTHER of all thread killers!! Actually I am starting to think I may just be the Queen of the thread killers! I bet this thread stops right here with this post. :confused3

I however will wear my crown with pride by golly...maybe if I didn't say things like "By golly"??

Oh and What the HECK is "Pickled"? :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was going to go count the threads I killed today but, by golly, I'm not! I was just trying to be friendly and helpful and by golly I was!

This was my first multiquote too---and by golly, it worked! Thanks for the help! (I had a friend when I was younger that said by golly a lot..thanks for the reminder.)

OK, I was on a mission to help out someone who had 0 replies. Saw one with 602 views and 0 replies. I started feeling horrible for this person so I was getting ready to jump in and help. Then I finally read the title

I need help. Serious help.

Hi Blame my sister and MagiKitty

ha ha. I did the same thing.

In my quest to answer some 0 replies I came across a topic on the community board that caught my interest. I replied with what I thought was a deep, well thought out reply...ignored like I never even spoke. haha. See if I get serious anymore. :rotfl:

Hey ya'll!

I came to check in on the killas. Seems like everyone's been busy today, but now everyone is gone. Oh well, I hope everyone had a good day.:) We spent the afternoon in the doctor's office. DS has a raging ear infection.:sad1: He's the sweetest baby boy and I feel so bad for him. Hopefully, he'll be better in a day or two. Say a little prayer for little Rhett please.

We usually put our Christmas tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. I love my prelit trees, much easier, although I do miss having a live one.

I'm so glad to see all you new posters on here (and most of you old ones too  ).

Have a great Fri everyone!

I know how you feel, except I never knew what a Thread Killer I was until I went to my UserCP and looked at my subscribed threads and saw how many of them there were where I was the last one to respond!

Ditto! Hello, my name is Jennifer and I am a thread killer too. :rotfl:

I can't even get replies on my cruise meet thread. How sad is that??

:welcome: Hey Jennifer! My name is Jennifer too! Don't feel bad about not getting any replies. You got one today! ;)

Good Friday everyone! I see the board was busy last night--very cool!

Glad to meet you, CruisinEars! Hope you enjoy hanging out with us.

AUdisfan, so sorry to hear about your little guy. Its that time of year, lots of sniffles and feeling "yucky". I'll keep you all in my prayers.

So darn cold this morning! Have lots of last minute things to do--have to go to the bank, I need money! And cat food. Already my kitty babies are starting to know something is going on, very clingy, very 'what are you doing Mom?'. Leaving them is the hardest part.

I am one of those psychos who fully embraces the holidays ASAP. I've found the Christmas music channel on XM. I already have a tiny tree sitting on my desk (I love my Dollar Store). We usually put up the tree on my birthday, the second week of December. We have dinner, put on the holiday music, and put the tree, lights, and stockings up. Of course, I spend every evening picking up all the stuff off the tree once the kitties get into it!
