You can still get it at the Disney Store, so I am not sure about the discontinued theory. And if they discontinued it, that wouldn't mean that there would be no shower gel, just a different brand...IMHO.

I actually did email Disney about this question and am waiting to hear what they say. I am sure the CM rolled his/her eyes at my question, but inquiring disney resort guests would like to know!

You emailed them asking what products they are using now? Or if shower gel is still provided?

I know at CR it definitely is, based on all recent reports of extra toiletries.

If it's gone it's not because Disney did away with anything. H20 did. Disney can't get a product they discontinued.

The sea salt is definitely not discontinued. What we get at the resorts has almost always seemed to alternate between the Sea Salt and the Grapefruit/Bergamont except for one time when we got Blushing Orange (I think that was Disneyland). We buy the H20 to use at home, and whether we buy it from the H2O website or the Disney store website depends on who is offering a discount at that time. (Plus, the Disney store website carries it off and on). We have bought all 3 of the scents that show up at Disney-- Sea Salt (me) , Grapefruit/Bergamont (DD), and Blushing Orange (turned out no one really liked that one!). H20 just reformulated everything very recently (I think they removed an ingredient that is getting bad press that is in a lot of shower gel and shampoos for one thing- but I also heard rumors of a brand revamp due to sales slumps) H2O didn't spend all that money reformulating and repackaging it to then immediately quit producing it. They still make shower gel, and there is no way they are going to give up the profit of bottling it and selling it to all the Disney resorts unless Disney rejected it. I can't even imagine the amount of shower gel it takes to stock all the resorts. Plus, Disney could certainly provide a different shower gel to their guests if it had been discontinued.

Now, it looks like they have discontinued the Grapefruit/Bergamont entirely. Not just the shower gel, but also the Shampoo and Conditioner and just the scent entirely. Unless a reformulation shows up, it will be interesting to see if that scent disappears entirely at WDW. It makes me wonder if WDW is using Grapefruit/Bergamont until their current supply runs out and they ran out of Shower Gel first and are still using the Shampoo/Conditioner etc until it runs out and then the scent will change. I know a lot of people will use the Shower Gel, but are very picky about their Shampoo and Conditioner and don't even pick those up at hotels, so I can definitely see the Shower Gel running out first. (Okay, okay- I will admit that we have a tendency to move the shower gel bottle of H2O we are using to our luggage and back every day so we will get a new one every day and can take some home! My attitude is that if they are charging me over $400 a night for the room, then a fresh bottle of shower gel each day is not too much to ask).

I asked if they were phasing out the shower gel entirely (from all the resorts), and if they were, I politely expressed my displeasure.

They are going to continue to produce the Grapefruit Bergamont for Disney and in addition to the room sizes, it will continue to be available for purchase through Disney in the full size bottles. It is not going to be available directly from H2O either on their website or outside of Disney. H2O ran out of stock of the Grapefruit Bergamont shower gel which is why it is missing from the resorts right now. It is shipping to Disney this week and should be back in the rooms soon!

That's what I meant by H20 being the one that got rid of it. They got rid of the scent, all products, that Disney used the most of. I didn't mean H20 got rid of all shower gels.

The entire talk about getting rid of it was a podcast, right? Either someone had the observation, or maybe staff said, it was gone. I can see how someone would jump to the conclusion that Disney was the one that stopped providing it. I can even see the staff saying that. They'd very likely have no idea that H20 no longer offered the product. They'd just know they no longer had it to put out.

I find that quite hilarious indeed. I have never put that much thought i to what I wash with in my entire 52 years on earth. My hair yes, I bring my own and could care less if they had it in the room. But my body, anything works and with a washcloth I find soap way easier.

But I'm glad those who do care have their gel. And I hope maybe some folks will quit assuming Disney is the devil by taking away things.

When we were at GF May '15 they had the H2O foot lotion and solar gel. I think they stopped that as well.

I can't say if they still have them now, but they had both at GF in December 2015.

I've never had lotion anywhere, not even CL stays

We've always had lotion. I bring the leftovers and use them in my exercise bag.

Looks like all the scents are on the Disney Store link.

Lots of people reporting the CR has oodles of product in the room over on the CR FAQ.

I've blown through my Bath Aquatics supply since March. Going to have to track down more in November.

BTW, the new H2oplus website looks cheap. I hope the product doesn't follow. I too think the grapefruit is subpar to Aquatics and usually pass. Haven't tried the spa lines yet.

Question - Is GF the only resort to have the H2O collection? I have stayed at Poly, WL, AKL, CL Poly, CL WL, and have only had the grapefruit kind (which I do like....or maybe I am just so happy I am in Disney, I would sigh with happiness even if it were eau de skunk).

Are you talking about the sea salt as opposed to the grapefruit/bergamont? If so, it has been kind of random for us. We have stayed at GF and gotten sea salt-- but we have also stayed there and gotten the Grapefruit. 2 years ago we stayed at Yacht Club and got Grapefruit/Bergamont, but last fall we had Sea Salt in our YC room. . We had the Grapefruit a couple of years in a row and I thought the sea salt was gone for good, but then it popped up again. I guess you never know! I hated the Grapefruit/Bergamont at first and would have that little minor moment of disappointment if we found that in the bathroom instead of the Sea Salt-- but it grew on me and now I like both-- probably the Disney/smell association. Although, I do have to say the one trip we got Blushing Orange I thought I liked it at Disney so I bought a bottle and then we all hated it at home! I guess that smell is only good for us AT Disney!

GF is the only one to give out the H2O sea salt/sea marine line of products, which seems to be a little higher quality than the other 3 H2O lines that have been given at Disney (grapefruit bergamot, blushing orange, and aquatics). The resorts used to give out different bar soaps as well but I think all the bar soaps are sea salt at this point (in my experience). The value resorts also carry the combo shampoo/conditioner which was never available for purchase on the H2O site because it was made specifically for Disney resorts. The Grand Californian at Disneyland gives out the same products as the GF, being that resort's flagship hotel.

You guys scared me. I hope they have some at the GF and Poly in two weeks. For once I was trying to cut back on baggage fees and trying to pack light. I figured their toiletries were great H2O stuff so why not!

I would hate to have the job of reading incoming emails at Disney World!

I actually wonder how many complaints they get each day, from people with questions like yours. Not actual complaints regarding their stay. I've read so many people on these boards, in such a short time, stating that they emailed Disney over "this or that".

Would be interesting to know.

Yep @pixie08 - I do not want to check a bag and my toiletry case is already full. I would have to buy shower gel at the gift $hop.

BTW - here is Disney's email reply:

At this time we have no plans to stop providing shower gel to our Guests. Disboards is a great website, but please only trust what you see on official Disney World® websites because anyone can say just about anything on those sites and they are not affiliated with the Walt Disney Company.

But, I still trust the DIS and the Podcast. I have learned plenty of insider info that Disney does not publish!

The only place I've gotten the sea salt shower gel is the GF. The other deluxe resorts the Grapefruit except the soap was sea salt. Shampoos and conditioner have been the H2O Sea Marine.
