Thread Closed - Shower Gel is safe!

When we were at GF May '15 they had the H2O foot lotion and solar gel. I think they stopped that as well.

looking forward to hoarding some!

Potentially its the hoarding that is causing them to cut back on the amount of toiletries?

I would estimate most people use a third to half of one of those mini bottles per shower. So a room with two people shouldn't get through more than a bottle per day. If you are using your own, but keeping back what you would have used anyway so you can use the Disney stuff at home, that fine. But (and I'm not saying the quoted poster is) if you are the people who phone housekeeping to get five extra bottles per day just to take home, then that's probably why things are getting cut. Of course housekeeping should also be sensible and not put out five bottles when you used up one as well.

While this does not help with the direct access at the resorts, there is another option if you just have to have the H20 products at home.

I found that if you swing by http://disneyresortcollection.com aka part of the disneystore.com site, you can find a selection of H20 offerings and a couple that include the Mikey ear shampoo bottles.

In my opinion if they aren't providing shower gel they might as well not provide anything at all except hand soap. I don't use (and don't think many others do either) bar soap for washing my body so that could be eliminated. But if a hotel offers toiletries I expect shower gel and shampoo as a minimum, plus conditioner in any deluxe hotels, as well as something to wash my hands with.

If they wanted to offer hand soap in a container screwed to the wall (similar to the public bathrooms) and eliminate all bar soap I would be quite happy as well, liquid soap seems more hygienic than bar soap.

The bar soap is the only thing I use and the only thing I'd really miss. I don't use shower gel only soap

We were at GF over the weekend and there was sea salt shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, body and face bars and lotion. We weren't CL. We were in Boca Chica with pool view.
No more mint foot cream? I think our last stay the blue solar gel was gone :sad1:

I don't mind the shower gel, but if they get rid of the lotion, me and Mickey are going to have words :rotfl: With that nasty Florida hard water, I go through a bottle of lotion a day, and I love that grapefruit lotion!!

I we use it all. I like the soaps, daughter likes the shower gel, we both use the shampoo & conditioner and body lotion, and at GF our special treat was the mint foot cream. We keep in in the night table, so nice to use before bed after a day on your feet. It also helps cut down on our luggage weight not having to pack all this. With a 2week stay buying the small travel size doesn't work.

I'm saddened with this pay more get less attitude of Disney to pay for Shanghi.

Prices keep going up, and what you get keeps going down. Ugh.

There was no shower gel at CSR a week and a half ago. I called mousekeeping and asked for some, they just brought more shampoo, conditioner and bar soap. I thought it was maybe a moderate thing. We were at CBR in March and I don't remember if we got any or not.

We were at CBR in January with no shower gel. Shampoo, conditioner, 2 bars of soap. Can't remember for sure on lotion, but I'm thinking no since I don't remember using any. I thought I remembered seeing a thread during my trip planning stating that only deluxes had shower gel? Or was that lotion?

We had shower gel at POR last month, at AKL and CR in April. We'll be at WL next week and we'll see there. I personally don't care. That bottle of shower gel is far from a perk in my opinion. A bar of soap will do the job just fine.
CR not only had the usual toiletries but also convenience things that toothbrush, toothpaste, nail files, shower cap. None of the rooms were CL

I've never had lotion anywhere, not even CL stays

Thanks, I couldn't remember! All I could remember was a big deluxe has xyz, moderate has xy, and value has x type discussion. So I guess it was probably the gel.

This is me too. I usually bring my own stuff as a backup anyways - some of the stuff even in really nice hotels dries my skin and hair out something fierce, and I have so much hair and it's such a PITA that my own stuff tends to work better anyways. So I'm usually just pleasantly surprised when a hotel has something I'll actually use.

I will admit though, I do bring the Disney stuff home to use in our camper - but only the one bottle a day of each ration, which is about what we'd use if I didn't bring mine.

Maybe we need a poll, who uses bar soap and who prefers shower gel ;-)
I prefer shower gel but not at Disney since shower gel doesn't work as well with a wash cloth. One trip we bought a poof to use at Disney, and then trash but I don't usually bother with that so there I prefer soap to use a wash cloth.

I was just looking again at the H2O+ site and noticed that the Disney Resort Collection was not there....just the sea salt. I wonder if it's H2O that is phasing it out and not a Disney decision.

Do you remember the scent of the gel? We will be at POFQ in 3 days and I can't decide if I should pack my own gel. thanks!

I have stayed at CR many times (5 stays in the past 7 years) and last summer (2015) was the first time we had all the above items (toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.). We were non-CL like you, too.

The website was redesigned. A month ago I ordered a ton of merchandise during their 50% off sale. I bought travel size bottles of aquatics for 25 cents/bottle. I bought 2 full-size bottles of aquatics shampoo for $7. In short, I had a HUGE box come full of goodies for around $50. ...looking at the new website, I wonder if this was a clearance sale to bring in the new product line?

H2O+ (h2oplus.com), whom supplies the Disney bath products, recently had a huge site clearance on all their products. Ulta, Kohls and other retail stores also clearanced all existing H2O+ products.

When the clearance ended they did a complete site and brand relaunch this month. They changed their name to H2O+ Beauty with all new branding and discontinued many, many products (aquatics, grapefruit, orange, solar relief - many fan faves). The Sea Salt and Sea Marine lines remain but with their formulations *updated*.

I don't know if they'll continue to make the same products just for Disney or not but many customers vented on social media that so many products were discontinued. It's interesting to hear that the shower gels are being phased out when inventory is gone and I wonder if their new *formulations* will be introduced? :confused3

Yeah, I noticed the site was changed. I stopped shopping for some of their products because I had bought some on sale while back and also from my last cruise. Will wait and see what happens. I can always bring my own.
