Good day! So the day has come. We fly to Orlando tomorrow for a weeklong stay at Copper Creek/the Wilderness Lodge. ADRs have been set for months. Tour plans arranged. Extra events booked (Behind the Seeds, Caring for Giants, Moonlight Magic/Animal Kingdom, Wicked WInd Down, Jollywood...skipping MVMCP). Park tickets with hoppers and reservations are in place. Yet today I am scouring my typical info web cites looking for ideas that will help us. I've spent loads of time getting ready, but I still feel like I'm missing something, lol.

I guess what I am missing is 'boots-on-ground' recommendations. So, let me have it...any thoughts that you might have regarding a WDW adventure next week. We're coming in from Oklahoma so thoughts about weather, crowd levels, or other factors that I may not know about would be appreciated. Any conversations that happen in this message stream are appreciated. :-)

Be sure to check the Wilderness Lodge ResortActivities for month of December.
Somebody just posted the Fort December activities !!!
I would want to book or plan a sleigh ride for the family.
I know you will visit the resorts for Gingerbread Display but I want to mention that the BoardWalk is different this year and is amazing ! I loved it so much . I almost skipped it assuming it was the same as last years…
Somebody mentioned an an easy way to access the Festival Holiday food selections …
Download the Food and Wine APP
Change “Event” to 23 Holidays
All Festival Food Options are listed but I have not tested this but want to remember for my family arriving soon. They also mentioned the Peanut Banana Porter at the Yukon Holiday Kitchen …

It sounds like your schedule is very full already! So I’ll just suggest that for weather, be prepared with layers. Orlando weather forecasts aren’t very accurate more than 3-4 days in the future, and we’ve bought more jackets, sweatshirts and sweaters at WDW than I care to admit because we didn’t pack them or did pack them but left them in the resort room! Also, a given temperature in Orlando often feels colder than the same temperature in Oklahoma due to the higher humidity in Orlando. And when the forecast calls for rain, ponchos usually suffice; rain this time of year is usually intermittent, not all day.

Have fun!

Keep in mind that Wilderness Lodge and Ft. Wilderness are two separate resorts. There’s a bus running between them all day, and after 3 PM there’s a boat that makes a loop between FW, WL, and CR. Each one has a separate boat and bus carrying guests to and from MK too. Most of the things to do at FW are at the Settlement end, near the boat dock, but the horseback rides are at the Outpost end, which you can reach via FW bus from any park or via internal bus from the Settlement end. BTW it’s about a mile walk from Outpost to Settlement.

PS if all the talk about FW, WL, and other resorts, not to mention the parks, is making your head spin, you can find an extensive up to date map collection here: https://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/index.htm
