Thoughts on Yachtsman and Flying Fish

I like them both. Don't forget Shula's and Bluezoo are also great options at Swan/Dolphin which are also nearby.

My husband and I are looking for an anniversary dinner spot near Beach Club where our kids will be at the activity center. Please share any thoughts on Yachtsman and Flying Fish restuarants as far as food and atmosphere go and preferences of one or the other, if any. Thanks!
Coin flip.

If for an anniversary - Yachtsman may have marginally better ambiance.

But unless you are on Disney Dining Plan - you may want to look at Swan & Dolphin Signatures. The food is (likely) better than either Yachtsman or Flying Fish. All have better ambiance than Disney Signatures.

blueZoo is our favorite.
Shula's can be intimate, but also male-centric with footballs.
Il Mulino can bustle if arriving when bar/lounge gets filled with convention'ers.

I went with bluezoo and we have TIW so we get a discount there! It's something different and new. Keeping it fresh for our 15 year anniversary. :)

bluezoo is awesome. Best restaurant on Disney property. Make sure to try to tuna appetizer (if it's still on the menu); it's amazing!

Flying Fish hands down. As PP's have said the Yachtsman just doesnt support the cost of their food with the quality that you would expect.

Just for future reference.... both Shula's and IlMulino also take TIW. To my knowledge - they do not bother with the Dining Plan.

Flying Fish is one of my all-time favorites in the World, but the noise level can be excruciating. Yachtsman is quieter, in my experience. I cannot attest to the quality of steaks at either restaurant since I tend to order fish/shellfish/vegetarian, but Yachtsman's fish/vegetarian offerings have been excellent (even though it's billed as a steakhouse). For excellent food and service, you cannot go wrong with either choice.

It seems like you've decided, but if you want to go all out I'd highly recommend the chef's tasting meal at FF!

I love TiW.

If you go to Disney annually, Swan & Dolphin has there own affinity card that also gives rewards.

Also, if you use American Express, they have a Starwood Amex and that too gets you accumulation points at Swan & Dolphin (and all Starwood locations).

Put all three discounts together - TiW, Swan & Dolphin, Amex - we get something greater than 40% discount....for some of the best food at Disney.

And if my child utilizes the free Camp while we eat, bonus!!

If you enjoy fish - blueZoo is the best.

The Lobster 'Cantonese' can be made 'Butter Poached'.

We've been known to enjoy a round of cold shellfish, a pair of hot appetizers (or split a pasta special), and a whole fish deboned table-side.

Enjoy!!
