My husband and I are looking for an anniversary dinner spot near Beach Club where our kids will be at the activity center. Please share any thoughts on Yachtsman and Flying Fish restuarants as far as food and atmosphere go and preferences of one or the other, if any. Thanks!

I've always thought yachtsmans was a pretty poor steakhouse.

I like flying fish much more...

But if you are hopping that day...Monsieur Paul?

Or Shulas or blue zoo at swan/dolphin?

Just a thought...

We ate at both on our last trip and much preferred the Flying Fish. The food was much better, as was the service.

Ate at both places in April and really enjoyed both. I plan on eating at FF again next year, but wouldn't turn down a return to YS either.

I will say I thought YS had a quieter, slightly more adult vibe, if I was looking for a "date night," but FF is very nice, too. Yeah, I'm being no help. I say read the menus and decide which you prefer.

Failing that, flip a coin.

Had the worst dining experience since I've been going to Disney at Yachtsman. The food was very expensive and mediocre at best, and the truffle mac n cheese was inedible. Flying Fish is leaps and bounds better food-wise in my opinion. Yachtsman is quieter and more formal. Service was much better at Flying Fish.

Very bland...pretty much everything at yachtsmans...

I was trying to be fair/kind but I have to agree with your assessment.

It's always been as if yachtsmans believes that the main ingredient is fine by itself... As In no seasoning or sauce.

The worlds most renowned chefs don't seem to agree... You have to bring out the flavor...they don't seem to believe in that...

NOTE: The Yachtsman has a decent selection of steaks for the carnivores among us.
Tasty steaks, but the presentation does not measure to the high prices. If you want
to graze and don't care about how the meal looks, this can be the place. If you wish
quality steaks AND presentation AND ambiance, try Shula's.

NOTE: Per Disney, on average, Flying Fish is the most expensive eatery at WDW on a
revenue-per-capita basis (even more revenue per person than Victoria & Albert's). Service
is pretty good, but not commensurate with price. Snapper for $36 and beef for $42 should
be fantastic, and not only just average. It should be accompanied with superb service and
a super atmosphere. That is why the price value only is "C", where it could have been an
easy "B". It must also be noted that one needs to bring a good sweater/jacket. For some
reason the temperature is near that of the North Pole.

For ambiance I think YSH is a bit more quiet.

For food--if steak is what you want and a choice of cuts, then YSH. Otherwise FF. They have a great NY strip there and better seafood.

If you are not restricted by the DDP, then a short walk to Swan/Dolphin will put you at 2 better spots--Shulas and Blue Zoo.

I have plans to go to YS this November and as far as the FF i will not go back i thought the for was not good at all, and the service was deplorable. Nothing what i expect from a signature restaurant.

We've never done Yachtmans, but plan on it for next trip because I'm dying to try their charcouterie. May or may not do steak and think we may just make a meal of some apps and sides.

Flying fish has consistently been one of our favorite disney restaurants. They had a slight miscue on our last trip with a pasta dish my husband ordered, but in at least 5 visits there that was the only issue we've had. They do some amazing seafood (love the shrimp appetizer and any scallop dish they have) and oddly they also served us the best bolognese we've ever had.

We've eaten at Flying Fish more than any place on property. It is the one place we keep going back to again and again. The cocktails are fantastic if that appeals to you, and I could make a meal on appetizers.

We've never eaten at Flying Fish, but we loved Yachtsman. The filet was awesome, the waitstaff was very friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxing.

We prefer Flying Fish, of the two. Yachtsman was just meat, meat, meat. Not my thing, at all. Ruth's Chris is better, and that's not saying much.

Flying fish has really good food and we enjoy the vibe. Never been to BlueZoo or ashula's, but I've heard such good things!

FWIW, we prefer JIKO to FF and AKL also has a kids club. Monsieur Paul in EPCOT is also highly recommended and very close to YC/BC.

Happy Anniversary!!

Of those two, we much prefer FF but, if you aren't shackled by dining plan restrictions, I would head to Swan and Dolphin. I have been only to Bluezoo of the restaurants there but it was great.

Flying Fish over Yactsman, even the steak at Flying Fish was better than Yactsman's steak.

We really enjoyed Yachtsman and would recommend it. Steaks, sides and service were all good.

Welllllll - you asked for thoughts. All the following is just OUR opinion....

Flying Fish: it really IS a VERY GOOD Sig. We don't tend to go there, only because it seems to feature a lot of very good "fish", as opposed to Shellfish. Purely personal taste - Sandy and I like Shellfish - crab, oysters, clams, lobster... anything with an exoskeleton :). So we tend to gravitate to FULTON'S for this.

Yachtsman: again, a GREAT Sig. Been there several times. But every time we HAVE been there? For us, it's re-affirmed our desire to go back to Shula's at the Dolphin. We just personally believe that Shula's has better steak, salads, dessert, and service. For us? Shula's is the best Steak House at WDW. It's SO good that we are wondering if STK can possibly beat it :).

We are doing Yachtsman this trip since we have never been. I had never been to Le Cellier before last summer and disers said to bag it. Good thing I didn't listen. It was awesome.

Check trip advisor for a billion reviews good and bad with pictures.

Thank you! 15 years for us! I considered just doing Epcot around the world for our anniversary too but we're thinking of the timing of it all with the walk to Epcot. We have reservations now for bluezoo but may change our minds. My husband is french (and American) and for some reason he will not let me book the french restuarant. Ha!
