If you're someone bothered by motion sickness, can you do this ride? DD and I love this ride, and up until now, DH has always sat out with DS. Well, now DS (he's 4) thinks he wants to ride it. I'm not entirely sure he won't chicken out when we get there and need to use the chicken elevator. My question is regarding my husband. Some rides bother him - others don't. He rides BTMR, Splash Mountain, Dinosaur, Kali River, Test Track - but can't handle Space Mountain, Star Tours, and actually has never attempted RNRC or Mission Space (must say, this one bothers me too).

So, if my DS chickens out, no big deal, DH can use the chicken elevator with him. But, if he still wants to do it, we're not sure if DH should attempt it or not. This will be our first ride of the day, and I don't want him to be sick the rest of the day.

And what do you guys think the probability of my DS going through with it are? Height-wise, he's more than there - he was tall enough at 3, but we didn't even give him the option then. He will be 4 1/2 on this trip - loves thrill rides, no problem with Splash, BTMR, Test Track, Kali River - loves water parks, we go often and he loves the big slides. But he's a little timid, and I'm afraid of the theming making him nervous. DD rode it at 4 with no problems, but she's not afraid of a thing! He's just a little more timid than her. And I'm not sure if he really understands what the ride is going to do. Don't want him freaked out for the rest of the day either! But he really thinks he wants to do it, and I don't want him getting mad and being a pain if I say no.

Also - just wanted to add - dark rides don't seem to bother him to much. He's fine in Haunted Mansion, although he will snuggle pretty close to me.

So, do we let Dad and little brother share in our "girl time" together :teeth: or do we send them off to see the characters?

Deja vu! I feel like I have seen this post before!? :)

You wont get motion sickness from this ride. I get extremely bad motion sickness on spinning rides (teacups, mission space), and I have never gotten sick on this. If your DH can handle splash mountain, then he can totally handle this.

Motion sickness shouldn't be an issue. If your DH does decided to go on ToT make sure he's not feeling pressure to ride. I'm sure he's made it out to be much worse then it actually is!!

:confused3 Just curious. I have never heard of the chicken elevator. Is this a way to experience the ride (the story, special effects, etc.), but not have to experience the terrifying (sp?) drop? Please educate me! :earsgirl:

You'll experience everything right up until you board the elevator. Just tell the CM there that you need the chicken elevator.

OK, thanks. That's how I experience ToT. The drop is just too much for me! :earseek:

Several of our relatived who often get motion sickness rode ToT in March and everyone said it was no problem.

My FIL who gets car sick was initially hesitent to ride, went ahead and tried it. He travels often for business purposes and said ToT is better then a lot of turbulence then he has traveled through in the air.

So I say go for it...we're going to let our DD try it in December, because I know she will LOVE it and won't be the least intimidated by the preshow!

My thoughts on ToT are generally on the lines of WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!, but I suppose that's not really relevant.

I don't think that motion sickness is likely to pose a problem. The main issue would be fear of heights, which I for one have, which brings up the question of why I ride it over and over again.

This cracks me up. DH has been sky-diving, but thinks that TOT is somehow going to make him sick.

Thanks everyone for your encouragement. Oh course, DS comes home from preschool today, and out of the blue, he says, "Mom, I don't think I want to ride Tower of Terror at Disney World. The chicken ride sounds fun." You know, DH has been tucking him in at night alot lately. Hmm . . . :rolleyes1
