Thoughts on the Villas at Disneyland Hotel

Maybe we were there on an off night but we felt there was a lack of show and engagement at the Disneyland Trader Sams, it was honestly a little boring and the space is pretty small so it felt a little cramped to us.

As for the pools, we used the main pool and its awesome, very comfortable chairs and easy to get a spot (atleast for us in August when we were there last), plus the restaurant there is good for a quick bite to eat.

It’s a little bit of a hike to get to the main entrance to the resort (when compared to Grand Cal lol), so the monorail is great to take you right in to the park. Without that, some of the hotels on Harbor are almost as close if not closer so at a fraction of the cost it’s easy to justify staying off site IMO.
Yeah the high point chart is killer. I think when we get direct points we will only do one nighters there on special occasions if we like it

When in April? If April 12/13 , that's when Dapper Day is. So there should be discounted room at GCH.

I've stayed at VDH 2X on points, I enjoyed it. Plus the person I rented from didn't charge the crazy points prices.

Darn it. That's Bats Day Weekend too.
And Goth Day and I think Tikiland Day too.

I see you have BLT in your banner / signature.
Do you have any points available there?
Are you eligible for the Membership Extras program?

Jumping in a bit late. We got back from a VDH stay 3/2. We had a 1 bedroom "preferred" view. View was not that great, but I have seen worse. Monorail was down so we had to walk everywhere. It is about 0.6 miles to the gates from the lobby. Overall it was great. The room could use more storage, however. We also had to ask for more coffee. The front desk has a lot of kurig cups, so must be a common ask.
We valet parked first and last night as is our custom. We were charged every night for valet. So watch that. I also did not get a folio and had to call after we got back. That is when I found the issue. As usual the Cast Members are top notch and took care of the problem.

TOT is a bummer, but not as expensive as I feared.

While we were there we managed to snag direct points at VGC! We plan on alternating years between the two. (bank and borrow!). VGC has no TOT and cheaper dues than VDH.

The 1 br had a great balcony, but we never used it as the view was not appealing.

I am not sure about the build quality. They seemed to have cheated out on materials. The caulking was cracked around the tub. The main closet barn door was off the track so you could not get into the washer and dryer. Lots of things not plumb or square. Looked like 5 to 10 years worth of wear and tear instead of 1 year. Still very clean and comfy.

Hope you have a great trip!

Thank you 😊 were going to delay that trip to next year when we have 7 months to book and get a better deal and not stress

Don’t know if this has been mentioned before elsewhere but I was at Starview lounge the other day and a guide came by with Poly tower posters and as we got to chatting he mentioned they just (well, in the last couple months anyway) added a 1bdrm VDH showroom up there. Got to take a quick tour of the room which was fun because I’ve yet to walk even on Disneyland hotel property lol It looks beautiful, loved the colors and details. Shame to hear about the quality because it really looks so pretty on its surface.

Oh wow definitely going to check it out when we get those direct points!

We are checking in on Monday night for 5 nights in a preferred view studio. We own at Aulani but it was easy to snag the studio. I did have to wait list our last night as we decided to extend our trip but it eventually came through at the beginning of February 😍 Mouse Dining came through for me this week and I was able to snag a Trader Sam's ressie for hubby and I (though I'm sure we would have been able to do a walk up late one night). Can't wait to be there!

We were very pleased with the theming and decor. I was afraid it would all be Mariott Beige as many of the recent refurbs have been. It was not. Lots of color, even the hallways are very well themed. Very nice over all. Our room was Princess and the Frog themed.

I do agree that VDH is studio heavy. We always go for a 1 bedroom. This was our fist trip and hopefully didn't just get lucky this time :). We just added on at VGC and plan on alternating years between it and VDH.

We own at VDH and have had no problem with booking 1 bedrooms at 11 months. Our kids love the monorail pool slide and DW and I enjoy the poolside service and the quick service options at Tangaroa Terrace. You also can’t beat the proximity to Trader Sam’s.

We’ve alternated stays at VDH and VGC and found that for our tastes VDH and the Disneyland Hotel are perfect for spring and summer while nothing beats the Grand Cal during late fall and winter.

The availability charts are awful….

On a related note, I just did a look at VDH 3 bedroom availability. Not one single date / day is available throughout the entire calendar up to Feb 2026. Could it be that one of of the 3 br are declared with the other being cash? Or its simply there are only two total at VDH with the other two 3 br being at VGC? VGC calendar shows about 30'ish days available scattered starting in Oct - Feb '26.

Looking to do a large group trip in 2026 to celebrate my oldest graduation. Might have to pivot to WDW.

I believe that the only 3 Bedroom available to book on points is the accessible one. Have you looked with that option selected?
