Thoughts on the Stem to Stern Wine Tasting

If I am a new cruiser hat are my chances of getting this or any other tasting at my booking Slot? Do they leave some Slots open for embarkation day sign ups?? Also curious what time of the day do they usually do These? and I am correct to assume that sea days book up first?
thx
I’ve done these on 5-night and longer cruises that include one or more sea days, so I don’t know about availability on the 3- or 4-night sailings. Typical schedule has been either 12:15 pm or 3 pm on sea days. If all the openings have been taken through advance bookings, they might add another session for on board bookings. On the recent Eastbound Panama Canal cruise, I noticed at least one additional session listed in the Navigator, so I assume there were slots still open for that tasting. The session I had pre-booked was fully subscribed and not listed in the navigator on the day it was held. As it turned out, there were empty seats at the tasting due to no shows.

We've done this on just about every cruise and always enjoy it. My favorite was an Italian wine tasting as we were sailing around Italy. They brought on a representative from a local vineyard, and they showed photos of the vineyard. It was great.

ok. wait. I thought, from the name of this tasting, it involved actually moving about the ship? Like I thought you had a glass of something I guess in Cabanas and then moved to 5 different places tasting different wines FROM STEM TO STERN? ok, i also have to idea now that i typed that if a stem is actually something on a ship - although i am sure a stern is! I am guessing it's just a tongue in cheek little name?!! How funny! All this time I thought it was like a moveable thing! :rotfl:

I actually like that idea better than the regular tasting format they are doing now. Tour the ship and learn some Disney history or engineering insights while enjoying some wines, that sounds like a good idea.

Found this old thread, considering Stem to Stern for my upcoming 4 night (2 sea days) in September. For those of you that have done mixology, chocolate & liquor, mojito, whiskey tastings which one was your favorite? Stem & stern is the only one I haven't tried so thinking of that one or potentially chocolate and liquor a second time for me. Cruising with two newbies, both of whom are not big drinkers but not teetotalers either. Mojito one was my favorite of the 4 I have previously done on DCL but that may have just been the really entertaining bartenders that session but probably also the one that I did not finish all my drinks.

my favorite is choc and liquor but didn't see that listed on my Sep. cruise (3 nights on the Dream) and since my friend is really into wine, I booked this.

Stem to Stern was my favorite tasting of all of them. Our bartender was fantastic. I think it is a great tasting for newbies as I personally didn't find tasting the wines to be as boozy as the martini or tequila tastings we have done in the past. Plus there is a cute little pin they give you in the end. At least when we did the tasting they gave them out (a few years back).
