Thoughts on the pool at the Desert Inn & Suites?

We've booked a room for 4 nights in August at the Desert Inn and Suites. We won't be there much, but I suppose there is a chance DS and DH may want to go for a quick swim or hot tub. Any opinions on the pool? It seems odd that it's indoors! The property seems to be a good value for the location and great rate :)

I ended up with folliculitis after about 10 minutes in the hot tub. Also not a fan of the huge window, putting me on view of every single person that walks by the pool.

Last time I was there the hot tub was lukewarm bathwater at best. I wrote it in my review on their page and they said they've fixed it since so maybe it's fine now. Otherwise it's ok. It's enough to get the kids to feel like they got a swim in. Small. But I definitely didn't book for the pool so it's just a nice bonus that you can swim at any time of year.

We always stay at DI&S and love it if that helps. The pool just happens to be there ;)

We didn't have time to use it when we stayed there last year but we might use it next time. People were using it when we walked by but it never looked very busy, which is nice. One afternoon is was closed for a cleaning (there was a sign up about it in advance) so hopefully that means they keep up with maintenance on it.

It is nothing that I think is exciting, but it served it's purpose. My four young kids had fun one afternoon. If it was just me and DH, I don't think I would have used it. The kids are not picky at all though.

My son like to swim a bit mid day when the parks are too crowded for him to be comfortable so we have used the pool. We are usually the only ones using it, I'm telling you it's like having my own pool. It's not big but it's adequate. Also having it in door s means that even if it's cool or windy outside my kiddo could swim comfortably and I don't have to worry about reapplying the sunscreen.

Also since we have usually had the pool to ourselves midday it means I can easily get a chair and table. I bring a few drinks and snackes and a book and it's not a bad way to kill a little time and relax during the parks crazy busy time.

It's TERRIBLE. Don't use it or stay somewhere else if you want to. The Camelot has a nicer pool. They have some suites.

Too much clorine smell. Maybe they should convert it over to a salt-water pool.

Thanks for the input! While I'd prefer an outdoor pool, I guess it's not a deal breaker for us for this short trip. We usually stay at the Best Western Stovall's, but thought we'd give DI&S a try this time - it seems to get decent enough reviews on these boards.

We're here right now. Yea, it is small and nothing to write home about. If I had wanted a 'better' pool, I would have booked a more expensive hotel. But, we needed the type accommodations this resort offers. We're in the parks all day, so not a big deal. If we want to use the pool, it's there, hadn't looked overly busy when I've walked by.

We used it every day of our last trip and at least half the time we were the only ones there. Is it worth paying 30 bucks more a night for a better pool? not for us!!!

I didn't consider the Desert Inn mostly because the pool is indoors. We stayed just a couple doors down at the Tropicana instead. I knew (coming from Canada!) that we would want to use the pool and be outdoors in the sunshine. The Tropicana pool isn't anything super fancy, but it was very lovely (saltwater! clean, perfect temp) and the hot tub was great too.

We arrive on Sunday. If you had to pick an area for your room, what would you recommend? We will be in just a regular room. 2 of us. I didn't book for pool either, but may bring my suit. Thanks.

We're way at the back, first floor it's pretty quiet. I think I would have preferred an area that was a bit higher.

We were in a parlor suite so I am not sure how those rooms varies as far as location. But we requested top floor towards the back and that's what we got. It was quiet until our last night when a super loud family moved in next door (at 2am.)

We stayed there last summer in one of the largest rooms with lots of family and the kids all swam every day and had no issues. Nothing fancy, but they had a great time and I actually liked that it was indoors because it rained two of our trip days (July).

We are booked at the Tropicana for our first trip this August. Great to here you enjoyed it! I'm not expecting anything fancy; just looking for cleanliness and close to the park. Under $700.00 for 5 nights I couldn't pass it up!
