Thoughts on the new Carnival Vista

Do you have any pics of your cabin? We're in those for our next Vista cruise.[/QUOTE]
I agree about the plexiglass, I wasn't a big fan but I LOVED all of deck 5.

I do, but I can't seem to figure out how to post them. If you do a dummy booking on Carnival's website and choose deck 6 inside cabin, it will change the inside photo to the sideways design if you choose one of those cabins. Ours was flipped though from what that photo shows. And it seems to show a couch, which we did not have.

The couch is what I was curious about. My wife stumbled across those pictures the other day on the website but I was hoping to see actual pics. Thanks

When I have a little more time, I will try to figure out why my pictures won't post. But there was definitely no couch in our stateroom. If you want to PM me your email address, I could send them to you.

Thank you for such a thorough and informative report! It looks like an absolutely beautiful ship with a lot of unique features and options. Will definitely keep the newer Carnival ships as an option for future holidays once our kids are a little older.

Thank you! I'm another one seriously considering Vista, now even more so with all your observations. By chance did you get any pictures of the kids clubs?

Another thing I just remembered but don't have pictures of is a couple lunch places. There is an Italian and Asian pay restaurant for dinner on the Vista, but at lunch they are included in the cruise fare.

The Captains Pasta Bar is awesome, we ate there 3 times. You get a paper menu that you choose between 3 different pastas, 5 sauces, 5-7 proteins and about 12 different veggies. You also get ciabatta rolls and Cesaer salad. Everything was made to order and excellent.

The Asian place was the same concept, you chose between 3 starches, 4-5 sauces, different proteins and vegetables and then they did a stir fry. It was pretty good but we liked the pasta better.

Newbie cruiser here - I got the DCL ship figured out for upcoming July cruise but I was looking at other cruise lines, for possible future cruise, and get super confused on which eateries are free versus a charge. Are there clear signs? Or some easy way to figure it out so you don't accidentally walk in to a restaurant thinking its included and it's not.

We found out everything ahead of time online from the website. The majority of things on carnival and royal are included but there are a few up charge places, it's pretty easy to figure out.

Thank you for the excellent review. I have two questions.

Did your children do any of the kids' clubs activities and if so did they like them?
How would you have felt with three people in the same room?

ETA: thought of another question

What if any of the upper deck activities had an additional fee (for example sky ride)?

I have a question similar to darnheather, my kids are 3 and 6, do you think the Vista is better for older kids? Did you catch a peek of the kid's clubs or pool areas? THanks!

My kids don't do the clubs at all including in our previous DCL cruises, sorry.

Our inside rooms didn't sleep 3, the ocean view and balconies do.

The only activity there was a charge for was the miniature bowling, also the IMAX and thrill theatre.

Thank you. I had a quick check and for my family DCL is cheaper since we can do a single inside stateroom. Just wish airfares weren't so high we'd be on one of the Barcelona cruises later this year for sure.

There were kids on the Vista and the 5 year old girl we had Dr Seuss breakfast with was having a great time but she did spend a lot of time in the club. We've always done a lot of the family activities on DCL and I don't think CCL has as many of those. My gut says DCL is better for that age.

ETA: the kids menu for the MDR on DCL is way better.

We bought our air about 8 months out and paid $750/person. They were Delta and Air France flights bought through KLM.

Sitting in the Athens Airport Sofitel hotel after a fabulous post cruise stay in Mykonos. We were on the June 11-21 10 night cruise Barcelona to Athens. I agree with everything @Club Disney Chandler posted in his review. Very impressed with this ship. I think one of our favorite things was the Dive in Movies at night and the included freshly popped popcorn. Absolutely loved how some movie nights were port themed... Roman Holiday and the Davinci Code movies for Rome, My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Mamma Mia for our first Greek island.

My 15 and 13 year old did participate in the youth clubs. They had a blast. Club O2 for 15-17 and Circle C for the 12-14. They went the first night and most other evenings for specific activities or just to hang out with new friends.

My husband and I ate at the steak house. It was fantastic from the presentation (trolley with cuts of meat and description of each) to the attentive service. So worth the $30 charge. Delicious.

We loved CD Matt. So upbeat and he was everywhere. I have 3 DDs who were crushing hard on him. I also loved how many of the evening shows had audience participation. So fun.

I'm thinking of cancelling my DCL Southern Caribbean cruise in April of 2017 and rebooking the Vista for their 8 day.

One thing I need to add, we loved the Internet plans. Each of our DDs got the Social Plan which allowed them unlimited access to their social networking sites for posting pics and messaging. It worked with FB, IG, Twitter and snapchat. For our 10 night cruise it was $40 for the length of the cruise. My DH and I shared a basic plan which could be used for almost everything except video and music streaming and skype. It was $90 for the length of our cruise. They also have a premium plan that's covers everything including streaming. I believe that was $140 for the length of our cruise.

We are hoping Vista II does the same cruise you were on in June 2018, my son wants that for his graduation cruise.
