And to the recent posters that are in favor of real flowers.
First I agree there is no subsitute for having the real thing. The colors can never match to what nature can do. The smell of real flowers is like nothing else we can create in a lab.
but as one person mentioned... it comes down to what we want. I want photography. That is my passion and has been all of my life. I got my degree in it, so that is my major focus. Secondly I love food, and my DF loves it even more then I do. We are not spending $125 per person, I can tell you that much! We just dont have that kind of money.
If money were no object this post most likely would not have even happened. Becuase I would have had real flowers, had them preserved or had a duplicate set made in the finest fakes. and not just for me but for my girls too.. buutttt.... I have not won the lottery yet so that is out of the question.
Pulling the flowers out from the DFTW budget has gotten it down to where we want it to be. Granted we will still need to pay for silks or whatever we end up doing but I know with the "guestimate" that my sales lady gave me, we just can't do that and have the photography I want.
I think when we go for our planning session is when the decision will be made. I am glad I am getting all of your opinions here because I will take those thoughts with me. If we can work it out that would be wonderful but if not the main thing is I have him in my life.
Tinklynn - I do infact have lots of allergies. Zyrtec usually helps but I didnt even think about that aspect. I think certain flowers I will be more allergic to then others, so I will keep that in mind if it happens that real flowers are in my wedding. And thank you for the wonderful wedding wishes!![]()
as other posters have stated, you need to do what feels right for you. buuuuttt....you seem like you'd like fresh but the cost is your sticking point. i would suggest to not use disney for your floral. you'd be surprised how much cheaper your flower proposal would be from a local orlando florist. to me it almost sounds like you're "settling" for silks, and i've always felt that a bride shouldn't have to "settle" on her wedding day.
also, i picked the $125 figure because i thought that was disney's mandatory food and beverage spend. the same thought would fit though...even if you are spending $50 on a meal.
if you do consider using a local area florist and choose fresh floral, i would let your designer know when you are planning that allergies might be a problem. there are certain flowers that almost everyone has a reaction to, and then there are flowers that are almost non-allergenic.
and like i said, either way, hope the day turns out the way you want it to.
