Thoughts on Portobello at DTD?

I have seen some mixed reviews online but I'd like some Disboard feedback please!

I am looking to book a place for my parents to go out together. A big plus is that they are staying at POFQ and I think the ease of the boat ride down for dinner would be good after a day at the parks with all of us. We are already doing Raglan as a group earlier in the week.

Thanks for any input!

I agree that it gets mixed reviews. I've been once and part of the group had a good meal and part had a "meh" meal. I tried the black shrimp pasta, but I honestly think they forgot to put sauce on the pasta because it had no flavor (beside pasta flavor). The linguine and clams were very good and flavorful. Service depends entirely on your server; our's was lacking, but that doesn't mean your's will be. I'd say, if the menu looks good, give it a try.

Thanks so much for the feedback! The menu looks like it will be pretty good... it is between this and Trattoria Al Forno (I don't think my parents want to go too pricey with Il Mulino although I know that is rated well)

We've gone several times over the years and have NEVER had a bad meal. It's one of our favorites!

It is fine. It isn't the best place on property, nor is it the worst. I have always enjoyed my meal there. It feels less like a theme park restaurants than others on property, which I like. I went there during both of my last two trips.

NOTE: Portobello is owned by the Levy Group, along with Fulton's and Wolfgang Puck's at
Disney. The Italian is surprisingly well above average for a WDW eatery. Good variety of
pasta, and a good choice of seafood and beef. I would skip the Chicken and the Osso Buco.
Like most of the Levy eateries, a little over priced for the quantity and quality. BUT, the
menu items are changing due to DDP. I recommend getting there before the DDP does
more damage like other used-to-great eateries.

My DW & I ate at Portobello's in Oct. It was ok. We shared an ordered of Cesar Salad & a cheese pizza. We did not try any pasta, so I can't comment on that. IMO, there are better places to eat in DTD.

We used to enjoy it years ago ...like 25 years ago! I haven't been in a loooong time, but it brings back some nice memories. Just the discussion is making me feel old....

Portobello is a perfectly ordinary Italian restaurant--not too bad--not too good.

Can't recommend any other spots in DD.

Think I would try that new Italian place on the Boardwalk---

Other than Raglan (we are going on another night) Where would you guys recommend?

For very basic food, we do enjoy Splitsville as their cocktails are really good as well.

Wolfgang Puck Dining Room is a really nice meal as well.

We used to really enjoy Fulton's but they have changed their menus in recent months.

Hopefully the DTD options get better once the new restuarants start opening.
