Thoughts on Maximizing FASTPASS in Today's Disney Parks

Also, you mentioned that you can maximize by using your FP at the end of the window, rather than the beginning. Please explain why?

I can answer that.

In the morning, use FP at the end of the windows since lines will be building at other rides.

In the evening, use FP at the beginning of the windows since lines will be diminishing.

Does anyone know if you can hold 2 FP's for the same ride? For instance, I get a SM FP at 8:20 AM with a return time of 9:15-10:15 AM. Can I get another SM FP at 9:30 AM? I seem to recall either experiencing or hearing about a quirk where if it is the same ride, you have to wait the full 2 hours before you can obtain the next FP.
Depends. If you get the second FP after your window has opened, you can get a new pass for the same ride, even if you didn't use the first FP yet (since they don't track usage of your FP). If you, however, would get an RSR fastpass with a return time that is later than 2 hours after the time you get it, the 2 hour rule does NOT apply, but you have to instead wait until your return time has started. You are, however, able to get a FP for another attraction after those 2 hours. So, in this case only, the 2 hrs or return time, whatever is shorter, would not apply for RSR (though it still applies to other connected FP machines) and you would not be able to get two RSR fastpasses in this case. Of course, this isn't your above example, but I figured I'll mention it, since I was very surprised, when this happened to me last summer. I had gotten an early RSR FP and then was trying for another one with an evening return time to use when the ride is illuminated. I was not able to do get that 2nd pass until the return window for the first one had started, which was much later than 2 hours after I got the first. By that time all the RSR FPs were gone.

I used to be a fp pro, then became a fp+ pro. Now I feel like I can't recall anything about fp and with the "recent" fp+ changes a lot has changed at wdw too.

So anyway, can I hold a fp at one park, hop to the other and get a fp there?
For example, if I had World of Wonder which is at (let's say) 8pm, can i hop to Dl at (say) 3pm and get a fp there for 4pm on Space Mt??
Then head back to DCA for my WOW 8pm fp?
TIA

Wow, old thread. A lot has changed since this was last updated.

And you mean World of Color. Not Wonder.

Show FPs do not count against you like they do at WDW. They're more like placeholders rather than actual FPs. So you could pull one for say WOC, F!, and still pull a ride FP all in a short time frame without them impacting each other. They don't have FP for meet and greets or the shows like Frozen anymore currently, but those don't count against your FP either.

That said, the parks are now connected. No more doubling up on ride FPs (but again: show FPs do not count as actual FPs). This change happened last year not long prior to MaxPass being introduced. So if you were to say pull a FP for RSR, you couldn't go pull a FP for SM until either two hours had passed (hour and a half if using MP) or the ride window had opened (whichever occurs sooner).

It's a far more generous program than WDW that counts shows and meet and greets as actual FPs. You also don't have to wait longer than two hours (hour and a half with MP) for your next one like you might encounter at WDW.

Note if you do use MP, you can only pull ride FPs with it. Show FPs still have to be pulled from their kiosks.

Side thought: I want to be there on a day one can pull a regular FP for SM at 3pm with a 4pm return window, lol!

I updated the OP a year ago. That was before MP started though!

As the OP :) this response is correct. Good luck!
