Thoughts on La Hacienda and Tokyo Dining?

I'm thinking about canceling my upcoming Le Cellier dinner and switching to La Hacienda or Tokyo Dining. Any thoughts on either? They are part of the few Epcot restaurants I haven't been to before, and there don't seem to be too many reviews on the board. Thanks! :thumbsup2

We're planning to try La Hacienda on our trip in August. We did eat at Tokyo Dining last time (in 2009) and didn't care for it. I love Japanese food but all of the food we had there was very salty and not that flavorful. I had chicken teriyaki and my husband had a steak, but neither of us finished our meals due to the saltiness of the food.

Hated La Hacienda. My shrimp were greasy and not very flavorful, and the extremely smoky sauce overpowered the dish. The accompanying rice and beans tasted very generic.

Loved the new Le Cellier dinner. The only place in Epcot I'd rather go to is Bistro.

The two places don't sound too promising! Maybe I'll just have to do Le Cellier as originally planned.

Any other thoughts?

My husband and I enjoyed the sushi at Tokyo Dining. But that was about 3 years ago, so who knows now?

We really liked La Hacienda. We wend in November and then again a couple weeks ago because we liked it so much.

Both times we got the same thing:

DH -Taquiza - Taco trio featuring rib eye taco with chipotle salsa, roasted chicken taco with salsa verde and Chilorio(marinated pork) taco - $10.75

DS & I - Tacos de Camarones - Fried Shrimp, chipotle lime aioli, cabbage, lime and salsa verde, all served over flour tortilla - $22.95

I didn't find the shrimp greasy at all. DH doesn't even really like shrimp and I was so full that he had one of mine and liked it.

We did order a side of guac which wasn't on the menu and it had great flavor. Salsa served with chip was not the typical salsa, but was good.

I would go back again. Both times we were there at 8:30 so we got a treat and were able to see Illuminations while we ate.

Also forgot to add that if you haven't been to Via Napoli we really liked that too, so much so, that when were we just there we went two times which I never do!:lovestruc

I loved La Hacienda when I went. I had the Sopa de Frijol (traditional black bean soup with nopales, queso fresco and mexican cream), the Puerco en Salsa de Mole Negro (roasted pork tender loin with mole negro sauce, served with esquites, sweet potato mash, beans and vegetables), and the Chocolate con Churros (traditional Mexican hot chocolate accompanied by fresh churros and cajeta sauce) for dessert.

Everything was very fresh and delicious. The soup was especially good and the hot chocolate was to die for. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

My experience at La Hacienda was very positive. It was the second or third day that it had been open. My food was good, but my service was outstanding - they were really trying to learn what the guests wanted and how to be the best they could be.

Interestingly, they seem to have inspired the folks across the way at San Angel Inn - my meal there a couple days later was the best I had ever had there.

The shrimp are batter fried, and there was a lot of batter relative to the shrimp. I couldn't stand that dish.

I must have gotten it on two good days, because even though they were batter fried, they were really "dry", not greasy at all. I don't like overly great food at all, and I wouldn't have liked them either if they were really greasy tasting! I really enjoyed them both times.

Just shows you can get lots of different opinions on the same thing!

We ate at La Hacienda last month and really enjoyed it. You can read my review in the dining report in my signature.

Then it's likely that I was there on a bad day. I really wanted to like Hacienda, given how this year I've developed a huge appreciation of light, fresh Mexican fare. Honestly I'd be willing to give it another try if I order something else.

Loved La Hacienda.... it a must do for our upcoming trip ... the seafood for two was outstanding!

We went to Tokyo Dining during our recent trip as well as Le Cellier..

Le Cellier was SOOOO much better.. but of course, now the dinner service is worth 2 TS credits.. So I don't know if we will be going again for a while...

Tokyo Dining's menu was very different- you MUST be interested in new and different foods to be happy there... I tried a plate of several different types of sushi/sushimi and it was good but... different. (I included pictures in my TR)

We like sushi and tempura, so Tokyo Dining is a always-do for us. It is our go to lunch for Epcot.

We tried La Hacienda this past trip for dinner. It was okay. The food was good, service was okay. Overall, it seemed kind of disorganized. We won't rush back.

I booked LA Hacienda because it was new, we always eat at San Angel, then I read the menu. The choices were limited and they were choices that I didn't think my family would like. The menu choices at San Angel were better and more of them.I also booked Teppan Edo for thier reviews. Read the menus to help you to decide.

My son and I ate at both Le Cellier and Tokyo Dining two weeks ago and both were good. We ate at La Hacienda in September and it was ok. I don't know if I would give up a reservation at Le Cellier for Tokyo Dining, but here is what I liked about our meal there:

I had the grilled chicken with teriyaki sauce served on the side, rice and steamed green beans, carrots and broccoli. My son had sushi. To me it just felt like a "clean" healthy meal. It was kind of nice feeling to eat something that seemed lighter and healthier - not to mention that my grilled chicken was really good. My son loved the sushi too. We have already made an adr for Tokyo Dining for our trip in August - in the middle of the week - as a nice break from some of the other heavier meals we will be eating.

I have eaten at all three and would have to say that La Hacienda would be my choice of the three. Didn't care of LeCellier, Tokyo Dining was good, but LH was very good and will eat there next trip.
