Hi hunny :wave2:

Im not a republican. I didnt vote for Bush and cant stand him or his politics. Im not very happy with our gonvernment as a whole right now. Im not really a democrat either. I dont like a defined title.

and if they want to come over here and work the jobs I refuse to? Great. Really helps me out. But they need to be here legally. Thats all im saying.

Hello, sweetie.

If that's what you intended to say, just come out and say it instead of posting a dubious-sourced piece of propoganda making the email circuit.

The issue of illegals, national security, border security, jobs, and the future of this country are too important to become a sideshow of/by the fringes egged on by those type of forwarded emails.

Weren't you the one with that racist crap on your blog? Anyway, it doesn't have to spell out the race for one to know what race the piece is referencing.

I see where you are stooping.

That was me. You'll notice I've been on hiatus from the DIS, you know... planning KKK events... and such.

Thanks for bringing up something not only that you werent involved in, but that happened almost a year ago.

Grow up.

Mentioning the word hispanic. Or Referring to hispanics, does not scream racism.

Propaganda? Maybe it is.

I posted it because I liked the message. As did my friend. And several posters on here.

- and i didnt know it was an email. Just found out. Regardless. Made up or factual. I like the message.

A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that
refuses to assimilate...

So, now the actions of some define an entire culture? Sometimes you just gotta laugh. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao:

Really? Let me post several negative things, then say "but I know several "African Americans or Asian Americans or whatever-Americans that work hard" It then implies that the folks you are referring to negatively are of the same race, does it not? It is not the word "Hispanic" that makes it racist, it is its usage in the context of the email. That does scream racism.

The piece is the OP was racist and imho a load of crap. While I may agree with the sentiment expressed, the author could have illustrated his point a lot better without the bigotry. Many of things pointed out could easily be said about other ethnicities, including whites.

Oh and I highly doubt any public school has that kind of money to burn, especially one in an impoverished area.

I guess im not as sensitive (or picky) as others.

I dont know what to say to make you understand what Im saying, because you're interpreting the letter differently than I am. I work in, and went to school in one of those title one schools. I also work in a restaurant where the clientel is mainly hispanic. When someone is speaking about a group of people who live in a bad neighborhood, i dont automaticlly think about what race they are. because i live in the same neighborhood. I just dont understand where your getting racism from.

This is the elementary school I work at, and went to school at. A few years ago they had a big remodel and are now a magent school. You can look at some of the info on there-

The average expenditure for the school district in manatee county is $681,336,000

Thats almost $700,000.

The percents by Ethnicity are:

% Hispanic 37%
% Black 18%
% White 44%

The percentage of kids on free lunch are:

% Eligible for Free Lunch 65%

If a little school in Bradenton, FL has these numbers, I dont see how the article couldnt be true.

and thats the school in one of the worst parts of town.

Take a look at the numbers for a school in the better part of town -

http://www.publicschoolreview.com/school_ov/school_id/18624

Students by ethnicity -

% Hispanic 6%
% Black 9%
% White 85%

Free Lunch -

% Eligible for Free Lunch 24%

Is this enough proof?

Again, you are incorrect. 681,336,000 divided by 172 managed schools is less than $4,000,000 per school, surely there are more than 5 departments in any one school. Art-Math-English-History-English as 2nd Language-Science-music and we are less than $700,000 per department. Now then, if those budgets include salaries, it doesn't leave much to be ordered to "spend up"

This is a highly racist piece and yet no one seems to care. :( Most are just nodding their heads in agreement.
I don't doubt the waste of the free breakfast because I have seen it with my own eyes. I taught 4 years in a large district in Iowa where a large number of our students were on free or reduced breakfast and lunches. We had to do "breakfast duty". I have never seen so many kids take one bite and then dump a whole tray of food. Did all of them? No, but I would guess a good 75% did. Kids in general vandalize school property? O yeah, it happens. As for the budgets, yes, if your dept did not spend the whole amount for the year, you could be sure that the powers that be would decide you must not need that much the next year. We were ALWAYS told to spend all of our budgeted amount.

I have no idea how much money some of these special programs cost. Do you? Look at the programs mentioned. They aren't cheap.

Racist, bigots, keep the names coming. I am tired of people using those words when we don't agree with what is happening with people pouring over our borders. I am not a racist. I am not a bigot. The way I have lived my life proves it. The friends I have chosen proves it. I want to know who is coming into our country. I want to know who is here. It isn't supposed to be easy to come into the country illegally. Ever try to come into an airport from an international flight without a passport? Try it and see how far you get.

"My wife is in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school"

Ah. I see where we are crossing thoughts. i realize that $700,000 on one school is ridiculous, not to mention, how does one spend $700,000 dollars on computers? I read the article, assuming that when he said 'works in the department' Thats the Title One Department for all those s. california schools.

$700,000 for a department, to distribute to all the Title 1 classes in the country is what I heard when I read it.

Which is reasonable.

Not all schools will receive the same dollar amount for funding a department.

I have to say I agree with the letter. It pretty much mirrors my experience with the illegal immigrant population in our town. It has nothing to do with race, if they were white illegal immigrants, I would have the SAME feeling toward the issue. They have to cut a SERIOUS amount of money out of our school budget this year. Those cuts would not have to take place if our government wasn't forking out millions and millions of dollars supporting illegal immigrants.

There is no way in hell $700,000 is going to cover all of the Title 1 schools in the country - forget about buying them all computers. Not to mention in the OP specifically it states
My wife is in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socio-economic and
income levels.........

She was ordered to spend $700,000 on her department or risk
losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; her budget was already substantial. She ended up buying new computers for their computer learning center.

in other words, the wife was ordered to spend that for her dept at that school that went towards computers at the school's computer learning center.

to the OP. I agree completely.

I meant County not country. Sorry.

For the most part the OP was just eyerolling to me, but this is what really got to me:
third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate...
Perhaps if YOU were Hispanic or of hispanic-decent it would bother you as well, but then maybe not.

I am college educated, never have been pregnant, and my Grandfather assimilated just fine. I believe he came here legally, but it's not something we talked about over Thanksgiving dinner, so maybe not. :confused3

Get a clue!

The biggest backers of illegal immigration are corporate America and the small business owner who wants sympathy because he/she can't make a profit if they pay their roofers, tilers, gardeners, waiters, waitresses, cooks, maids, meat cutters, packers, etc. a living wage.

In addition, the biggest snow job over a guest worker program comes from the WH. Remember Bush's favorite phrase: "Illegal immigrants are doing the jobs Americans just won't do." Americans are not only willing to do those jobs, they already do those jobs. Just not for a bag of rice and a pork chop.

Politics makes strange bedfellows and Bush is sleeping with Ted Kennedy when it comes to amnesty.

And just for the record, I call on many companies in South Florida from Fort Myers to Miami. I have never been treated with anything but respect for "La Signora" by the Hispanics I come in contact with so I highly doubt the assertions you make in your posted email.

So you discount everything in the OP because you have anecdotal evidence to the contrary?

[generalization on]
Remember, liberals HATE big business. But wait, now they hate small business???
[generalization off]

But I digress...

Since we heard news reports of Purdue and Tyson closing plants because their ILLEGAL workforce didn't show up, me thinks INS should pay them a visit. It'd be like catching fish in a barrel.
