I'm sure this has been reviewed before, and talked about as well, but we love AK and are staying in the AK Villas this year, so we thought about doing this breakfast. It's just myself and DH (going for anniversary trip:). Would this be fun for two adults who like AK and like Donald? What is the food like? Is there a better time in the morning to go? Any thoughts on Donald's Safari Breakfast are welcome!

We are doing it for our 3rd time. The food is good. The characters were fun. I have always done it prior to rope drop. This will be our first time doing it later. We have a 10:35am ressie this year. I think you would enjoy it no matter what age. Its a great start for an AK day.

I'd add us to the fans list. We're booked for our third visit.

I thought the food was fine (but breakfast is my fav meal so I'm easy to please) and there's lots of characters and people.

I found it crowded and a little confusing, but like I said, we're fans. :goodvibes

Just to let you know that Donald no longer comes to tables - he is only available for photos (must purchase them) outside the restaurant like at CRT.

Thought people might like to know this info, Tiger

We love it! We have gone with our DS, but there was an occasion when it was just a trip for DH and I. We had a wonderful time on both occasions. The food was fresh and delicious, and the character interaction was great. It is our favorite character breakfast! We like to make our adr for the first seating, or as close to it as possible.

Yes, yes, yes! After years and years of character meals, this one has become our one must-do.

We were pleasantly surprised by it and will do it again. We had a later ADR--9:20. We walked up at 9:20. Another family did the 20 minute early suggestion and were frustrated because they had been waiting 30 minutes. We waited only 10 minutes, because we chose to ignore (well, not really) the suggestion. That safari ride always takes longer than you think.....

OP said they like Donald. BUT you do not have to get your picture with him as it is not included in the price (like CRT). Too bad--it was probably a better picture than our CRT ones.

And it will be easy to get your "2" in on time. Clearly the restaurant is made for larger groups. We are only 3 so we didn't wait particularly long.

P.S. We are CP loyalists, but it was closed. We will definitely do this again.

This is always my DD(8)s choice of meals. We have done it four times ad are booked for an 8:05 adr for our july trip. We always pick the early time, as we finish up right about time for the park to open--Tuskerhouse is right next to the safari, so we are always one of the first cars out after breakfast. We love it and have recommended it to several of our friends who also enjoyed it with their kids.

We're doing Donald's Breakfast for the first time during our upcoming trip and we're so excited after reading lots of positive reviews!!! We made an 8:05 ADR so we'll be ready for the Safari.
I can't believe our trip is almost here!!! :thumbsup2

Donald's Safari breakfast is my favorite character meal. The character interaction was great and the food was really good. There was a larger variety of food than I expected. My absolute favorite part was the Jamba Juice. It is so delicious! I kept asking for more. I think it is a good meal choice for you and your DH.

OP said they like Donald. BUT you do not have to get your picture with him as it is not included in the price (like CRT). Too bad--it was probably a better picture than our CRT ones.

Well true, the picture is not included as it is at CRT, but Tusker House is a heck of a lot cheaper than CRT! For the price difference, you can easily buy the picture, more than one even.

We were so pleasantly surprised last year when we did this breakfast. It is now a definite must do! The food was wonderful, character interaction was superb, atmosphere top notch, just a real treat. One of our ADRs for upcoming trip. Yay! I would suggest getting an earlier reservation though, ours was one of the later ones so we were caught in the breakfast/lunch transition, so the earlier the better:)

;)We were not going to do a TS or character meal this trip b/c we have QSDP but I got so excited by these reviews I decided to get a ADR and pay OOP. Bummed now that I couldn't get the ADR. Just as well, I guess. I am having a hard time now that my DS will be 10 this trip and considered an "adult". That is a big price difference.

I loved it! I liked the offerings here better than Chef Mickey's. I liked the donuts alot. I would recomend the 8:05 am time slot so you could be out by 9 and hit the Safaris right away.

You can add us to the groupies that loved it! We were a party of three adults and really did find it to be a nicer character breakfast. It was a bit noisy, but all character breakfasts are. We found that to be part of the fun as the kids were having a blast.

The nice thing about this breakfast was the CM's were very careful to make sure we had all the characters visit us, and made sure we were all able to be in the photo. This was very kind of them, as we of course are a party of adults and hidden in the corner. It was the first time I had seen an extra CM come up to take pictures for us with each character. Later we ran into this again at Crystal Palace. It was a great experience and the food was good!

Another note of caution:

Do NOT make ADRs for 15-20 mins before park opens. The park is closed, for the opening Tree of Life ceremony for safety reasons. There are no exceptions! We've been through this several times and have dealt with managers and executives - the park safety CMs are in charge, and they won't budge. The restaurant knows this is a problem, and yet they won't stop ADRs for this time period, so the restaurant backs up horribly. It throws the entire schedule off as people are late, and so you really wait awhile during this time of day.

Please get there at least 25 mins before, and you'll be escorted to the clipboard restaurant CM who will check your name, and let you on your way.

HTH, Tiger :)

We did this for the first time last year, and I thought it was the best breakfast ADR , both in terms of food and character interaction !:thumbsup2
I REALLY loved the food, DS has a peanut allergy which was well managed by the restaurant, and DD's birthday went off without a hitch. :yay:
All in all - would really recommend this. We did a late breakfast/brunch time...last seating of the morning I think. Worked well for us :-)

We were lucky enough to walk up last week. The CM checking people in said 30 minute wait, we waited 6 minutes however we were only a party of 3 (2 adults, one 7-year-old) so that might've attributed to the short wait time. There was a great variety of food to choose from, the character interaction was a little spotty and rushed for us though it definitely could've just been an off day, and our server Trevor was fabulous. We'll definitely be returning!
