Thoughts on bus queues?

What is your average wait for a Disney bus?

  • So short, I'm too busy doing something else to notice

  • A few minutes longer than it could be

  • Sometimes way too long. I'd rather be in the park or hotel.

  • I never take the the bus.

We always stay at OKW, and I doubt we have ever had a wait of more than 15 minutes, even when we just miss one. The afternoon buses tend to run a little less often, but we know this, so it isn't an issue.

In September I stayed at the POR, each day I wrote down when I got to the bus stop, and what time the bus arrived. Most of the time the wait was 5 to 10 minutes. There were times when it was only a matter of a few minutes.
I only had one problem the whole trip and that was a 40 minute wait for the bus to Epcot one evening. 3 buses each for the MK, MGM and AK went by before a bus for Epcot finally showed up. Not sure what happened but other than that incident everything went very well.

having just gotten back I have to amend my earlier post ....the bus/transportation service for the most part is still great but the DTD bit stinks. we never got back to our resort from a dinner at another resort in less than an hr, once it took 2 hours(!!!),also missed 2 ps because of waits( had allowed an hour each time and needed closer to 1 1/2 hrs) and I really think that is just crazy when you are maybe 10 mins away and hello this is the off season...we would get on the bus for dtd at the resort we ate at, drive past our resort, get to DTD( or epcot if it was still open ,it usually was just about to close)then wait 20 mins for a bus to go back in the same direction....there has to be a better way than that.. and that was BEFORE pc was packed,,,we always got on the first bus, what if it had been busier and we had to wait for a second bus. we skipped 2 ps cause it was not worth the hassle to get to them (Boma and CRT) so imo that is costing disney money...we ate at PC instead for a whole lot less than we were willing to plunk down at the other 2.

When going from one resort to another, transfer at a park rather than DTD (if that park is open and more in line between the two resorts)

When you were late for the PS did they still seat you without your having to give your name to be put at the end of the regular list and wait in the normal non-PS fashion?

the problem with going to the park rather than dtd was usually it was close to time for epcot to close by the time we were leaving so we could have run into a longer line once we got there. we did go to epcot a few times and I don't know that it saved a lot of time since it took for ever for the buses to actually arrive( except the Csprings fiasco which was longer driving around the lot at CS)....it seemed Pop Century did not have nearly the number of buses as some of the other resorts as a lot of time 2 or more buses for other resorts would arrive and leave half empty before one for PC would come which would be crammed full, usually standing room only before it even got to PI from dtd.

they told us they keep the Ps for 20 mins ( we called when it was obvious it was going to be late) and made it there before the additional 20 mins was up but still did not get seated for about 40 mins later for one ( Ohana) so I don't know if they put us at the end but I think so.( I did notice a lot of others waiting but didn't know if they all had ps or not, one group who I know did not have PS got seated about the same time we did and there were only 2 of us vs 5 of them) . the other we were fine even though late since they were empty anyway.

The Disney transportation system is run with the highest level of professionalism. It makes staying on property a true joy and gives guests peace of mind and more time to enjoy WDW. I am making my first solo trip soon and if it wasn't for this great system it just wouldn't be possible. I just want to say THANKS to the wonderful transportation staff for their smiles, patience, spirit and kindness as they care for the tired, weather worn, and foot sore passengers. ;)
