Thoughts? Candy Cane Inn or Paradise Pier?

We are leaving in 10 short days , and I have a dilemma... We currently have Candy Cane Inn booked for 5 nights August 14-18 for $700. Now I see there is a deal to stay at Paradise Pier (only starts August 15) from Aug 15-18 for $812, so I would just need one night on Aug 13 at a different hotel.

Looking for opinions, should we just stay at Candy Cane Inn or go for the full Disney experience? We are WDW veterans, and always stay onsite but not sure how this Disneyland experience would compare?

What do you guys think??

I would switch. The fastpasses for staying onsite would be worth it alone, in my opinion. I have heard good things about both places but I prefer staying onsite. If they run a deal for my dates that gets it within $200 (5 days) I will be switching from HoJo.

Are you planning on doing MM on Sunday 8/14?

I like both properties ALOT. If i was going for 5 nights, I would probably do a 3/2 (or 2/3) split.....depending on the answer to my first question.

FWIW, i would put a value of $40 - $60 (per night) on the PP over the CCI. But again.....I like both properties ALOT.

:)

For that price difference I would absolutely pick the Paradise Pier. I think you will really be pleased.

You are comparing two different experiences--one is a Motel (Candy Cane Inn), while the Paradise Pier is a hotel and part of the disneyland resort. The Candy Cane Inn is a very nice little motel (very well run and kept up) but it is a motel all the same.

I think there is a big difference when you stay on DL property.

I needed a room for a reasonable price for the night before our stay at the Grand Californian, and I pricelined a room for a great price. (it was about a week or so before our vacation that I did it). I got the Doubletree in Orange (about 5 minutes drive from DL) for 45.00. I just did "name your own price" for a 3 1/2 star hotel. I had heard that you run the risk of getting a room with only one bed (King) which wouldn't be good for us as I was traveling with my two girls, but I had no problem at all calling the hotel the minute the bid was accepted and getting a room with two beds. It was a really easy process. If you need any help, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the great advice! Now to discuss with my two little girls coming with me! (They are 19 and 17, and so in love with Disney!) Who can blame them!!
