I grew up on the Disney magic and thats exactly what Disney markets. All I ask is for a clean room in a timely manner and for people to be polite. Let me say, we didn't recieve any of the above mentioned on our Dec trip. Because of a less than pleasant experience we have canceled our June ressie at the BWV's and are adding a wek at VB where they still know how to treat their guests. They do still call us "guests" don't they? I wouldn't expect the treatment we recieved at the All Stars, let alone the BWV's. But Thats okay thanks to the rudeness of the CM's of our previous trip that will leave an extra 3 grand in my pocket this summer.

Read your paperwork again, obviously you forgot that you are not a guest, just a "real-estate interest owner". Legendary service and hospitality is reserved for guests.

We feel the CMs at the offsites (especially HH) are "happier", or at least give me as a "real-estate interest owner" that impression.

Personally I think the HH cast members are happier because of where they live, not because they work for Disney. I know I would be happier in Hilton Head than Orlando, :)

.... what made you decide to purchase DVC ? You seem to be saying that you bought nothing more then a timeshare. If so, why not Marriott or one of the other major players. Their buy in is less.Their dues are lower. They offer better options for other world resort locations. If you make your own magic and feel only you are responsible for it, why not just stay at Hotel 6 on I-drive.
..........because their timeshare does not have WDW or DL attached to it.............and since i have been to WDW over 125 times and probably over 60 times befroe i bought in 1991..........it also saved me over 100K .............it made sense............and my kids and family wanted to go there...........not to any other timeshare............plus we travel alot.........and always have..........WDW andDL is a constant staple in our vactioning plans..........so DVC made sense to us................but dont think for a minute DVC meets all of our needs because it does not for some of our traveling needs...........to meet those we use other methods that do not involve DVC because DVC can not meet those needs.

Wow, perhaps you are burned out and cynical on Disney? there such thing as too much of a good thing.

IMO the magic can be definied and who best to define it than Roy Disney? Go to savedisney.com and you will see every issue that has been brought up on these boards. Roy is quite clear in his description of the magic and what he thinks the future should be. He also values the CMs he thanks them for doing their jobs and apologizes that things have been hard for them lately. That is good management. Until Eisner steps down and WDW and the Disney company can get back to its roots we will not see consistant positive change.

With that said, Zues is either burned out in his current postion or picked the wrong profession to persue. IMO it is the latter.

3DisneyNUTS, I totally agree.

A couple trips back the CMs at two different resorts at valet complimented us on our savedisney.com sticker on the back of hubby's car. One even called over some others to look at it. I think many CMs still do believe in Disney, but for others given the current Eisner management morale is down and the magic is diminishing.

Yep I completely agree.

I have our sticker on here too but we never drive to FL I should somehow put it on my luggage :)

I do agree with where bongo is coming from to a certain degree. I think WDW made a huge mistake putting DVC's on to deluxe hotels. The nature of the beast would integrate much better with a moderate like POR. I expect clean rooms and to be able to be checked in by 4 pm. I would expect this at ANY hotel or timeshare, not just Disney. 4 pm is pretty much the industry standard. If Disney is routinely blowing this for a big enough percentage of DVC reservation then check in either needs to change to 5pm OR more mousekeepers need to be hired with the accompanying increase in dues.

People overstaying in their rooms more than an hour should to be charged the summer rack rate for their room.

I disagree. There is nothing moderate about DVC.

Isn't anyone getting sick and tired of seeing all the threads that keep talking this to death.

Why can't everyone just agree to disagree and let all the threads die a slow death?

You'd think an admin would come and lock the thread already.

I must say, all of my DVC experiences have been wonderful so far and, if the great majority of CMs "hated" me, they sure are good actors, lol!

Now, as to what I am "entitled" to, that's obvious. Only what is covered in the contract, no more no less.

What I "expect" is different, and expect does not mean I feel like I deserve it, just what I generally anticipate I'm going to experience based on past trips. I do expect that legendary Disney hospitality, because that's exactly what I always have received, both at DVC and Non-DVC resorts. I've stayed at most of the resorts now, from All Stars to the Grand Floridian, and while there are a couple of dud CMs and quite a few dud guests as well at all the resorts, they have been the exception not the rule.

Now, if that started changing--if all the CMs started treating me rudely, if every single perk were suddenly dropped from DVC, if transportation to the parks stopped (it's not in the contract after all), if maps weren't provided and park information unavailable, if all the restuarants closed at the resorts, if there were no longer holiday decorations, --then I would probably think it's time to sell DVC! (But, if all that stuff happened, I think it would be a hard time selling it,lol!)

Guests aren't entitled to a magical experience at Disney, and a good part of having that magic comes from the guest and his/her attitude. But a lot of it comes from what Disney gives that is above what one is "entitled" to from the purchase of their ticket or room. That's what keeps me coming back to Disney rather than that nasty Six Flags over Georgia <g>.

It would be difficult for Disney to do all these extras (and they are extras) and then suddenly yank them all. Even though they could, it's hard for a business (such as DVC) to operate at a certain level of service, maybe not agreed upon but delivered nonetheless, and then backtrack to a lower level. As owners, we must realize that keeping these extras was never promised and they could all vanish. Likely, no. But it could happen and that's simply the risk of making such a purchase.

Still, I don't think it's likely and, as I said before, I've had nothing but great trips so far with DVC!! :flower1:

I think there is implied extras in there. Don't know if that legally entitles you to Disney "magic" but that is what they certainly use in their advertisement - for ALL Disney events, parks, hotels, etc.

Even though I am not entitled to them because they are not in my legal document, if they go away, so will I probably. We would still go to Disney, but not as often.

There's no basis for locking the thread - these are discussion boards. and the topic is still being discussed. Those still contributing obviously aren't getting "sick and tired" of the topic.

Threads will die on their own based how much interest is shown in them. If you can't wait that long, I suggest you don't read the thread rather than try to censor it from those who are still interested.

Wow, where do you see that I was trying to "centor it from those who are still interested"? I was merely posting MY opinion, as anyone who posts on the board is permitted to do.

I would say suggesting a moderator lock the thread is an attempt at censorship. maybe that sounds harsh, but IMO so was your original post. nd the fact that you posted it on more than one thread.

yes, please post your opinion, just don't try to suggest that we shouldn't.

Wow. I think a lot of people are interested in hearing about what others feel they are entitled to by owning DVC. While I was surprised at the nerve I struck, I have a feeling many people were plodding along not realizing DVC meant such very different things to others here on the board. Some are just happy to have a place to rest and sleep, while other naughty arrogant Northeastern SOB's like myself expect much more. :earboy2:

I hate to jump to a RASH conclusion, or to be accused of being an exanthem, but my palms are itching and my bloodshot eyes are blotchy and swollen. And even though I would prefer a rasher of bacon..... here goes.....

I have to agree with the RASHman here. Until 2 posts ago, polite discourse was occuring between a group of people holding differing views on a specific topic, while sharing a love of Disney (or the Disney Brand for some of us).

It is very hard to include nuances of thought while typing a message, and I have been guilty of being rude when my intent was merely to educate (on the CB), but the post Rash replied to, came across as judgemental and condensending in my book.

And I sure that is what ITCHED the RASHman up to reply as noted above.

I see no reason to lock this thread, and I believe Bongo59 may agree with me on this one as I just re-read the DIS posting guidelines.

You are exactly correct there, and as it appears there are still a number of people who have an opinion on this subject and the others as well.

Ok, I see people checking into Disney with this snotty 'whattaya gonna do for me' set to their face, and it makes me bonkers.

When I'm checking in, and it's usually after a 7 hour ride in the car and it's 1 am, I've got some good looking red lipstick on and a huge wacky grin on my face as I step up to their computer. No, I don't look like Courtney Love (that's the 2 am check in), but it works every time.

When you smile a real smile at someone, I swear it's hardwired in all but the biggest Scrooges to smile back. And somebody, somewhere proved (I hope he didn't get government grant money) that smiling makes you feel better.

I've literally checked into Disney dozens and dozens of times, and I can't remember ever being treated nastily, and I think it's as much me as it is them. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the smiling to be reciprocated, but hang in there, you'll crack that tired CM sooner or later. Think of it as a challenge: Gotta give love to get love...
