How in the world did Michigan end up with the upper peninsula? Were the people of Wisconsin sleeping?

Louisiana is the only state that looks like the letter it begins with.

Florida and Oklahoma (and Idaho, if you flip it over and lay it on its side) are the only states with panhandles. That includes you, Texas - yours is just too big to be a panhandle....no surprise there.

Texas should be two states, if not three.

I don't think whoever named West Virginia was really trying.

North and South Carolina and North and South Dakota have me really confused. At least there was an original Virginia to be west of.

I noticed this while reading one of Charlie's posts....New Jersey looks like Alfred Hitchcock.

Happy Friday all. :)

You're always good for a chuckle. By the way, what kind of coffee are you drinking?

I bet it's Irish coffee.;)

Thanks Oldkicker.:) I guess Georgia is normal?

Is Rhode Island really an island?

Thought not.

New Jersey ACTS like Alfred Hitchcock, too, occasionally........;)

Interesting, OK !!

Maine is the only state that has only one syllable in it's name !

Yes but even if you cut Alaska in half each Half would STILL be bigger than Texas ;)

Just had to get that in ;)

And New York really isn't that new, is it Bern?!?!;)

Hope everybody has a great weekend:D

Did ya'll know that Maine's coastline is longer than Florida's?

Even more strange, I could swear that I learned in LA History that Louisiana's coastline is the longest... if you can call a swamp a "coastline."

Okay, I gotta ask. . how could Maine have more coastline then Florida? Or do you mean shoreline? (i.e. including lakes) :)

Nope Willy, I think it does mean coastline....Maine's got all those nooks and crannies and bays and inlets and islands.............more miles of coastline I guess!
