Hi All,

Well... times have changed.

The Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World will now serve alcohol at one restaurant, Be Our Guest, during dinner.

While it's not Disneyland, it's what many consider its counterpart and it has never served alcohol to the public up to this point.

Interesting.

While I don't see this ever happening at Disneyland, it does raise the question.

That would be in the Disneyland park and that would mean that it is not dry.

Yes, but Disney Dreams did say DL has not served alcohol to the public. Club 33 is members only, the general public cannot get in. Most everyone knows DL is alcohol free - those that don't know often are irritated when they get to the park and find our they can't get a drink. Some who read this discussion might have gotten the impression that alcohol is freely available in the DL park when that is not the case.

I found the post and link interesting. There are a lot of wine choices - including bottles at the new restaurant in MK. Fitting that a French themed restaurant is the first to serve alcohol in the MK park.

Of course getting into BoG without an ADR will be pretty difficult (exclusive on a larger scale). Thus people showing up to the MK probably will not find alcohol freely available either. LOL, many people are already irritated that they can't score an ADR for BoG.
Also, the license for Club 33 change a little while back. It is now a park wide license if I remember correctly. This was done to help them out with after hour/special events.

LOL, it has happened at Disneyland already. Long time ago even. WDW is just following suit.
Alcohol is NOT available to the general public in any restaurant in DL. It has not happened yet at DL, muchless "long ago," as you posted. WDW is not following suit, they are initiating a first.

To the general public, alcohol is not available anywhere in Disneyland. I'm not sure why you are choosing to argue on this issue, but it is a fact.

Making a comparison of Be Our Guest to Club 33 is laughable at best in terms of exclusivity. Any person on Earth that wants to can make an ADR at Be Our Guest.

To make a reservation at Club 33 one must be a member. To eat at Club 33 one must either be a member or know a member.

There is absolutely no comparison.

Alcohol is not available anywhere inside Disneyland for the regular guest. That is no longer true at the Magic Kingdom.

I'm slightly disappointed that they would stop following such a long tradition, although I completely understand from a business perspective as well as a foodie perspective. We've seen how much money the sales from alcohol have brought in from DCA...And from the types of food that they're offering at the new restaurant it would be nice to have a glass of wine to go with the entrees.

Too bad when I go in January (have ADRs for 1/9!!!) I'll be 9 months too early to have a drink. :upsidedow

Personally I don't see this as a big issue. People don't generally go to any Disney park with a "let's get drunk" night clubbing attitude. You've always been able to buy alcohol at EPCOT and I've never personally seen anyone drunk in the park. I'm cool with them selling adult drinks to adults, I'd have an issue if they sold GUM or cigarettes. Getting gum off your shoes is near impossible and as a non-smoker I HATE getting a face full of someone else's 2nd hand smoke. (Of course smoking in the park is really a different topic all together.)
