Driving down from Milwaukee. Does anyone have somewhat current conditions of I94, 294 bypass in Chicago?

I am trying to figure out if I should even bother with I94 and instead drive down through Bloomington on I39.

Thanks

I have a couple thoughts...........I would suggest that if it's not rush hour it's worth it for you to drive through.............but would be early morning mid-day or late at night............other than that, you definitely want to drive around.

Here's a website that you can check traffic for the Chicago area.

It's construction season in Chicago - if you can avoid I-90/94 and I-294 by taking I-39 down thru Bloomington, I would highly recommend it. Unless you are driving late at night, then it really doesn't matter.

Just stay away from rush hours (AM and PM both) and you should be fine using 294. I live up by the WI/IL border and am always using 294. I haven't noticed too many congestion issues, but then again, I make sure I stay away from rush hour...
