Those who experienced Oct 2016 I have questio

We did third week last October and crowds were definitely worse than we expected but we still had fun. Mnsshp is the best party and totally worth it! Just avoid Epcot weekend evenings if you can avoid it, world showcase was so packed we had a hard time navigating our stroller.

There were also two major Jewish holidays at the beginning of October last year - which combined with the Hurricane and Columbus Day I'm HOPING contributed to the overall feeling since we will be there 9/29-10/4 :)

Thank you all for your advice and suggestions. In the end I have not been successful in convincing my Dh to go in October. He would rather do a December or June trip. More likely June when school is out and hopefully Toy Story land will be open. Oh well, maybe one day I will make it to the Food and Wine Festival.

We pulled the kids out of school to go the week before school let out for Thanksgiving last year and it was crazy, even though we planned to go for a non-crazy time. This year we can't pull the kids out anymore, so going over Columbus Day week. I am expecting crazy crowds and will just plan accordingly. Schools are really picking up on fall breaks, so I think it will keep getting busier. Also, better temps vs July. That beats any crowd issue for me:) November was amazing for temps, just a bit cold for swimming (at lest for my family) and going in October should fix that. Good luck on your decision.

We went in October last year. (10th-14th)We had a great experience and are going back this summer (three weeks from now). The temperatures were great! We were there right after the tropical storm. Our day in Magic Kingdom was a little crowded, but I believe this was due to the tropical storm and people staying over to get their ticket use where they hadn't been able to a few days before. One thing you have to keep in mind when visiting the MK in October is the Mickey's Not-so-scary Halloween party which is a special ticketed event. If you visit on the days of this event, you will have to leave the park early if you don't purchase the extra ticket.

I go to Orlando exclusively in October now but only every four years. I used to add a February here and there but that is peak tax season and doesn't work anymore. October has had consistently great weather (end of the month) and crowds that keep increasing due to more schools having a fall break, more people attending the Halloween events at both WDW and US, free dining or other promotions and, I think "the secret got out about the great time to go".

I can manage crowds better than humidity so I'll still go in October.

We will be there 9/30-10/7. This will be our first October trip, and I have not been for several years due to some health issues. DH has a conference for work the week prior to our WDW dates, so we did not really have an option on the dates we are there. I'm super excited but trying to catch up on all the changes and updates. Sounds like crowds levels could be low or high and temps the same! Ha! Makes planning so much easier! :thumbsup2

I was there Oct 22 to 29 last year, I didn't think crowds were bad and the weather was nice. We always avoid MK on non-party days except the last day was a Saturday and we wanted one more visit there and it was a mistake, very crowded.

We went the first week of October in 2015 and it was great. It only really felt crowded when I didn't follow a recommended touring plan. I'm thinking in particular of MK on Wednesday night. This was the only weeknight they didn't close early for MNSSHP and it was packed! Our school schedule is forcing us to go to the second week. It looks like they are anticipating big crowds for this week again. I'm hoping a solid touring plan will help us maximize our time.
