How long did the process take once you told them you wanted to buy? I would think they fed-ex everything and then you sign--then what? How long does it take to close through them? I know we're cutting it close but we're looking at a Dec. UY, our guide told us that if we bought now we'd be receiving points this Dec.

Also, how long does the process take to add on points through Disney? We ultimately want 125 points--so we're looking to take advantage of the 100 point minimum they are allowing to buy in and then right after closing add on 25 points to our package.

Thanks and sorry for all the questions, our guide is not in until tomorrow and we're excited about the prospect of buying the vacation club!

Theoretically, could begin making reservations through MS as soon as contract is entered...Closing date pretty much is irrelevant in terms of making reservations...

If you have any matching Developer Points, in most cases except through Interval International, have 1 yr from date of contract, not closing date to complete trip...Take note of dates...In my opinion, points are too expensive to waste or loose because of poor planning...

Had a re-write to initial contract and even though that existed process was very painless...

Waiting for my official "deed"...

Good luck with the decision!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Congrats! I remember them sending the documents by fedex and they arrive in a couple of days. That part is very fast. I can't really remember the exact time for closing, but it isn't very long. Good luck!

I know we were making our first reservations within a few weeks (maybe 2) of calling up and saying we wanted to buy.

You can make reservations as soon as you sign and they enter that. No need to wait for closing.

I called my guide this past Wednesday morning to begin the process and was able to call him and get my member number yesterday! I expect my documents by FedEx tomorrow or Tuesday.

Thanks for the info! That's great that they get you started so quick! Does anyone know when I'd be able to add points? I was hoping to start the added 25 points also for this Dec, but don't know if you have to be closed already to add them. Thanks again for any info you have!!

I hope that you are not expecting to make a reservation for this December. It is highly unlikely that anything will be available.

Nope, not wanting a reservation this year--just wanted to bank the points for next year and wanted to bank 125 points, not just 100! We have a future vacation we're already trying to plan! :)

you can just buy 125 pts in the first place. The 100pt buy in is a minimum not a maximum.

You have 8 months from your UY to bank your points, so you have plenty of time. :thumbsup2

I asked my guide about this and she told me that this was not true! She said the 100 pt. buy in is an incentive so you either have to buy in at 100 pts or the normal 160. Have you heard otherwise? I asked her about buying over 100 but under 160 and she said I couldn't do that.

I decided to join the day we did the tour at DL. I received the paperwork via fedex about 3 days later. It took about a month to close.

Tell her to check with her manager because if you can't buy 125 at one time, you don't think that you are interested.

Let's see what she has to say.

Oooh, sounds like a good idea...would save us a headache and a half! Can I mention that there's a resale with the amount of points I'm looking for to make her really think about it? Or is that going too far?

If they won't let you buy 125 points then you could buy the 100 point contract and immediately do an add on of 25 points. Then you have the points you need

We have never had a Guide not grant our requests. If it can be done, they will do it.

Different UYs, split the purchase into 50 point contracts, payment not due for 3 months. They are in the business of selling and they will do what ever it takes.

I only wish that DVD would show some of the same magic to the existing members and resorts. Seems like they are focusing too much on sales and not enough on service after the sale.

OK I have a question....

When I call to start the 'actual' paperwork (I'm already pre-approved), my guide said I need to give a CC# for the downpayment when I call. When can I expect to see the charge on my card???

Will they process it immediately....or will it not show til the paperwork is signed and back to them???

I just want to be sure... cause I want to be able to get the cash onto my cc ASAP once the charge goes thru, so I don't have interest.

Thanks in advance for your help:goodvibes

Tell your Guide on what date they can process your charge. That's what we did.

Hi Paula,

They charged mine on the same day that I called my guide and asked him to get started on the paperwork. They were quick!
