On another thread about anti-blister tips, a few of you suggested using duct tape on the bottoms of your feet.

Do any of you who do this and have great success of not getting blisters or hot spots have a taping guide? How do you tape your feet and toes?

(I know this sounds dumb but it matters how you tape I believe) I'm willing to try it ahead of time but need some taping guide. Please respond! Thanks!

Duct tape? :lol
I didn't see the thread, but I can't imagine that would feel comfortable, blisters or no.
I put vaseline on my feet in the morning. Either that or anti-perspirant spray. It feels squishy and weird at first, but I've never gotten a blister or a hot spot! :)

But now I'm curious about the duct tape too. :lol

Haven't tried duct tape, but *did* put a piece of moleskin on a couple of places on my left foot/big toe that tend to develop "hot spots" pretty quickly. Did not get the hot spots, but when I went to peel the moleskin off, at the end of the day, a couple layers of skin came of with it! Next time, I'll bring some alcohol or something to loosen the moleskin!

I use moleskin alot when walking on my treadmill - I usually peel it off in the shower, once it gets wet it comes off pretty easy.

Where do you get moleskin? I thought it was a cheesy fabric sold on shopping channels.....

I read about the duct tape a couple places here. As I remember, the posters covered the sole of the foot and wrapped the little toe where blisters might form.

I can't quite figure it out, myself.

I bought moleskin, though, thank you for the tips about getting it off, I didn't think about that. You can find moleskin at drug stores and supermarkets near the foot care display- the Dr Scholls stuff.

I also bought the bodyglide. I had to buy it online since I could not find it locally.

duct tape makes great poor man's moleskin. when I worked for outward bound we used it often, just tape the whole bottom of your foot, and along the side if your shoes rub there. It will stop the blisters, but try getting it off after a two-week trip- yikes!

that being said, Moleskin is way more comfortable, and not particularly expensive.

You can find it at walmart in the foot care section with all the Dr Scholls stuff and foot cream.

Wow, I must have bought a bad batch of moleskin then! I used it on my DD's feet and it kept peeling right off. I ended up buying Band Aid brand bandaids for blisters and they worked great.

Never tried duct tape, but anti-perspirant worked great for my feet on my last two trips! I'm usually hobbled by blisters after a few days of walking, but the anti-perspirant really did the trick. Not one blister or even a sore spot!

Mole skin is great--you can get it in most grocery store foot care sections as well as Wal-Mart, K-Mart and other Stuff-marts like Target.

I can't believe anyone in their sane mind would recommend duct tape.

Mole skin -- 100 %

Better yet?....get use to walking before your visit! :)

Firmly believe/have lived the duct tape relief.

I only taped in spots. I never had to tape on the top on my foot. I would recommend shaving your hairy toes before venturing to the top of the foot.

Never had a problem with it not sticking, and never got blisters. However, I do have a problem with most bandaids, the adhesive causes welts. Strangely enough, Duct Tape has never caused a welt.

It is pretty easy to peel off at the end of the day. I have never tried leaving it on for two weeks. :rotfl:

You can buy a package of two mini-rolls of duct tape at REI or most travel stores.

Many, many travel guides and outdoor gear shops recommend duct tape for travel, internationally, etc. Probably because you might carry duct tape or at least find access to it, where moleskin might be harder to find abroad.

Practice with the options, and then go with what works for you.

just a tip.....DON'T have a pedicure and get your callouses removed prior to a Disney trip (or any trip with a lot of walking). I got blisters on the bottom of every toe and on the bottoms of my feet - not comfortable. Never happened before or since - but my toenails looked good!!

I now do get a pedicure but I tell them to leave my callouses alone. I need them!!!!

To be honest reading these kind of threads will be a life saver next time I goto Disney

I can't tell you how many times I've had BAD chaffing on my legs.....
and my big toe getting the biggest of all blisters....ONLY WHEN I GOTO DISNEY

BodyGlide and Mokeskin are my new best friends

Moleskin does just as well, and it is actually made for the purpose. ;)

I haven't had a single blister since I started using moleskin, and my feet are SO much more comfortable in general.
