We currently have Dell products in our home but eventually want to switch to all Apple. Does it matter the brand of wireless printer that I purchase now? will apple be compatible with any brand of printer?

I have a HP wireless printer, and I can print with no problem from my ipad2. I just turned on the printer and turn on my blue tooth setting on the ipad, and it finds it no problem,

I have a Canon wireless printer and it works great with my apple products, can't really help with other brands.

I have HP printers with my Mac. I get HP updates sent to my computer occasionally, for their software and drivers. When you go to buy, check either on the printer package box, or do your research on the web, for Apple compatibility. There was a time not long ago when lots of printers were for Windows only.

The Apple website has a list of printers that work with their products wirelessly. I would buy one off the list (you don't have to purchase it from Apple)

I have a wireless Epson Artisan 810 which I purchased at the Apple Store when I purchased my mac desktop. I like it. Can print from all our devices anywhere in the house. Also, the black print refills are only $16 through amazon.

We have a Kodak wireless printer and I can print from my iphone with no problem.
You know I have never questioned the compatibility. Just called hubby who is an engineer for a major telecom company and he said all Apple products have software that seeks out wireless devices. So you should be ok with any printer. Hope this helps.

Shouldn't matter... but I would caution you about switching over to Apple... don't do it if its just because you think the Apples are sexier because they have better ad campaigns.

We have both Apples and windows computers in our house... even now the Apple computers are all running windows under book camp... even the ipods are being synced using itunes on windows and not the Apple OS.... It all came down to my wife having a total disgust with the lack of a left and right mouse button on the macbook (she doesn't like playing finger yoga to do simple mouse clicks with the nonexistent right mouse button)....and for me it was a matter of not wanting to repurchase a lot of software I had that was running on windows (I even tried to adapt by purchasing Microsoft Office2010 for the Mac but found that it wasn't not 100% compatible with the windows version, certain visual basic macros that are required for some excel spreadsheets we use at work would not work no matter what was tried)..

So don't make a drastic jump until you look at whether it is going to cost you more than the price of the computer... if you have any Windows software you will likely have to repurchase a Mac version of it and some of that software doesn't exist... if you have kids that play games, a lot of games are not playable on a Mac....weigh the decision carefully before you do it or you might end up like my family... half our computers are HPs the other half are Apples and they are all running windows.

We have only Apple computers right now - 2 Macbooks and 1 Mac Mini and I have 3 different brands of printers. The WiFi color is a Canon MX870, which I just bought in February. No issues, except the Mac Mini has to be on in order for the Canon to print from my computer. I have an Apple Airport Extreme as my wireless router. That is sort of old, over 5 yrs old, so don't know if that is an issue w/ the printers not working unless the "brain" aka Mac Mini is on. We have a 5 yr old Dell laptop that stopped working 2 1/2 yrs ago due to some virus/other it got. One of the best things about Apple is that they don't get viruses like Windows OS. That's why I bought the Mac Mini 6 years ago, I had a Dell desktop (yeah back then it was huge!) and that got a virus and that was the end of that. I decided it was time to go back to Apple, which was my first computer in the 80's.

I have been faithful Apple user since 1989. In my career in printing and graphics, Macs are always the way to go. I respect those who use Windows, but to me, Apple is King!

Don't assume you can't get a virus on a mac, the first time I ever experienced a virus was in the 80's on a mac and it was as nasty as any windows virus. They may not be as common but they do exist.
