We live in Windermere. Windermere is just north of WDW. I just put all of my important papers in large plastic tubs. I put the tubs in the laundry room since it is interior and has no windows. I removed all the little things and put them inside pieces of furniture. I put all my pictures in another plastic tub.
I've packed clothes, flashlights and a battery operated TV/radio. We will be checking into AKL on Friday with a reservation through Monday. Someone mentioned earlier that they didn't know if Disney would be any safer. It may not be. Who knows. AKL is a bigger building than my house. I have nothing for my windows. Gee, I don't even have curtains on half my windows yet. After taking everything down and putting everything else away, my house looks like I just moved in. Sad. I've worked so hard on it.
We have plenty of water. I hope we have enough food to last until things return to normal. I've been freezing ice as fast as I can make it. I don't know what else to do.
I feel really guilty about boarding the animals. If anything happens to them, I will feel so bad. DD probably won't speak to me again. Then again, she doesn't want to ride it out at home again. Not after doing that with Charley. Fortunately, during Charley there wasn't a lot of thunder. Our dog, Griffin, is so afraid of thunder. They will sedate him somewhat prior to the storm. I hope he doesn't freak out to much. We almost lost him earlier this week to an allergic reaction to an injection. He's been through enough.
I don't care if I look like an idiot. As soon as this is over, I'm having those automatic hurricane shutters installed on my house. Maybe that will be enough to ward off any more storms.
Good luck to all!
