Those "middle of the mall" scheisters

I just ignore them completely and keep walking. They almost never bother me. (DH says I've perfected the art of frosty detachment. lol)

Regarding the wire head massage thingy, my doula had one when I was in labor with DD. It actually did feel really good, and all the nurses kept coming in to try it. She had ordered it online, and the nurses were talking about ordering some. I wouldn't buy one from a mall stand, however.

tmfranlk, that happens to me all time while doing the same thing holding the baby, pushing the stroller and I have 3yr old. I hate the cell phone people too. You can walk by them with a phone to your ear and still bug you. Every time one of those lotion ask me if they ask me a question , I will say NO! What is the question that they ask? anyone know?

Look, I'm a patient girl, and even very polite, but those creeps that accost you in the middle of the mall - you know, with hand cream, perfume, HERMIT CRABS, windshield crack repairs, bourbon chicken, etc. - I wish they would all just leave me alone!!! Or is it just the mall I go to?
Hey, leave the bourbon chicken guy alone, he's my buddy. I try to visit him 10-12 times every time I go to the mall.

I hate the people that track you down with surveys...
Not sure if all malls have these guys...

Wow. I didn't realize that the salespeople were so aggressive at other malls. We have the sales stands and perfume snipers, but they just hang out and wait for you to approach them. In fact, sometimes, THEY are on the phone and good luck if you actually wanted to buy a chia pet or personalized license plate.

They do hawk teriyaki chicken in the food court but he's behind a counter so he can't really run you down. Besides, it is so yummy, I almost always end up eating there anyway.

Around here, it's the, "Excuse me ma'am, do you have natural nails?"

You know it. You could walk by the bourbon chicken guy 100 times and he'd give you a piece every time. I always laugh because they park him in the most heavily traveled section of the food court and it's amazing he doesn't get knocked over.

I'm more worried about getting Head Lice

I was just complaining about this to my coworker yesterday. At our mall its the toy plane/helium filled frisbee things and BUBBLE GUNS! I am a very soft spoken, laid back to myself kind of a person but I had to complain to mall security about the bubble gun guy this weekend. I'm walking past doing the no eye contact thing and he GRABS my 5 yo DS and pulls him over to the cart " See my bubble gun?? Over 1,000 bubbles a second! What's your favorite color?" DS says green as I'm pulling him away.... the guy chases us down about 3 stores with a green bubble gun saying " I know you have been good all year, your mommy should buy this for you!' I couldn't beleive it! THis is a very upscale mall and I feel SO uncomfortable walking through that area now. It;s worse than the street vendors I encountered in Rome trying to get tourists to buy crap like snowglobes with the Pope in them....UGH! Huge pet peeve of mine!

The one that annoys me is the one that wants to clean my engagement ring. Like I'm taking it off and handing it to a total stranger.

Hoping this wasn't a typo, what is a "doula"?

A Doula is a woman experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth. Trained Doulas understand the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a woman in labor. Generally, Doulas believe that pregnancy and birth are normal, natural and healthy processes. This includes preparation for birth helping the laboring woman with encouragement, comfort measures, relaxation techniques, and an objective viewpoint, as well as support after childbirth, such as help with breastfeeding.

Hate 'em, hate 'em, hate 'em. Either they are chasing you down, when you don't want to buy something, or if you do have a question, they are on the phone. The cell phone people especially have no common sense. "Hi there! We are offering this free phone if you sign up today!" I try to be polite 'Oh, no thanks, I already have a phone and a contract with another service!" And they persist! "But it's a FREE phone!" Yeah, a free phone that is not worth the price of the cancellation penalty on my other contract!

BTW, I had no idea that other malls had the hermit crab guy!! I've never seen that before, they just put in that little stand a few months ago at our mall. Meanwhile, at our mall, he doesn't speak English, so I have yet to be accosted. Oh, and the helicopter/plane/flying disc guy is usually too busy flirting with the salesgirls from Victoria's Secret. Oh yeah, I'm sure she's really impressed with the way you throw that disc buddy! LOL

Ewwh, Nasty!

PS... Love your name! That's what I wanted to name my DD. I lost!

If they politely ask if I'm interested and then shut up if I say no, then okay. Any more than that and yes, they are annoying.

It's pretty bad at the Florida Mall...it's also one of the most visited by tourists. Sigh. Those little stands with the knockoff sunglasses, the "free" tickets to Disney...blah! I'm constantly run down by people wanting to see my fingernails, wanting to massage my head, wanting to "give" my daughter one of those goofy wind up cars.

Also, I've noticed a lot more recently between Orlando and Kissimmee on John Young Parkway there are a TON of those people selling weird light up pictures and blankets on the side of the road from their vans. That, and roses $5 for 2 dozen. It wouldn't be so bad if they weren't waving and screaming for your attention.

We have these at our mall as well but they don't really bother me to much. I do have problems with migraines so I make sure to stay far away from the perfume people. I'm always surprised to see women removing their jewelry for the people who want to clean it for you. Never ceases to amaze me that those women hand over their good jewelry to a stranger in the mall. I've seen some women hand over some really LARGE rocks! They even ask you if it's real first before they take it from you!

I used to stop for the lotion or perfume but after breaking out in hives for a week from some Victoria's Secret lotion I stopped doing that.
I always try a polite no thanks first but some of those guys just chase you down the mall still trying to get you to try it.
Even 1 or 2 crying kids has no effect on them, they still think Im just going to stand and let them massage my dang hand while the kiddies cry away  :(

Ok, it is their job. They have to Be Agressive, Be Be Agressive or they don't sell. Majority are commission. We all know they are there. Look out...........incoming.........<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_10_7.gif' border=0></a>. Oh, you said NO?

There are some people who are really taken in by their tactics. Those who wish to participate will....for the rest of us who are annoyed (me included) walk faster. They can't go too far from the stand. <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_1_201.gif' border=0></a>

As for the Crabs, I love the idea....but hello, 18.00 plus tax for a 1.99 box? And, they DO smell!!!!! <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/12/12_6_5.gif' border=0></a>
