We just got back. Great flights and great trip.

Warning: My son is 14 years old and 6 feet tall and about 190 pounds. He did bring his high school id which is a good thing. Since leaving out they did ask for an id. I said he was under 18 but they did question me. So we showed the ID and just went on through.

But if your child looks older -- as mine does then taking an ID might be a good thing.

Almost every state will issue an ID card to anyone of any age. PLEASE get these for everyone in your party. I work for an airline and this is a big problem, not sure how old someone is and no ID.

Good advice. My DS is 15 also and he, too is 6 feet tall. Last summer he flew solo to PHX-SFO-BOS. He had his passport and was happy that we insisted he take it. He was several times to show a form of ID.

Here is Wisconsin you have to be 16 to get a State ID. But the Junior High and High school's issue them. Our school even puts our address on them. That is all we took.

We did the same thing with DD's 11 and 8. Our oldest was given the 20 question routine on our last trip....age, name, birthdate - and she looks her age!

Yep, I agree, both my boys from the time they were 15 looked well over 18. Their last flying trip at 16 & 17 they just automatically pulled out their licenses because at 6'3", and 6'5" and both at 200 lbs with fuzzy chins, it was just easier for them to do that then argue with TSA about their age.

(Now if I could just figure out a way to get rid of those fuzzy chins of theirs, but at 18 & 19, they can legally tell me no)

;) ;) ;)

Actually, we had the opposite problem. I have 2 DDs who are over 18, but the TSA people kept telling them they did not need to show their ID (both look younger than they are). It kind of bothered my oldest DD.
