I'm guess I'm just a novice because I've only been three times - but I think the explanation makes sense. Although I wouldn't phrase it that way I know exactly what he means.
I've also been to WDW and skipped staying up for the fireworks - on my honeymoon we didn't see any. Didn't miss them a bit!
Actually my first two trips were basically "walk in and see whatever hits you" type trips. They were great. My 3rd trip was done with my kids and thus was more planned so that we could see everything in a way that would accomodate napping, swimming, etc. It was totally different and we saw everything we wanted, but I can't honestly say it was better than when we just sort of flew by the seat of our pants.
