Thos Cook & Co-op merger

Not sure if this will be good or bad for future travel deals

The only thing is with everyone merging is there is less competition for them.

At moment, FC and Thomson and Portland are the same (Portland no longer from next year).

Thomas Cook and Airtours I am sure are now together, if join Coop, cannot think of any other travel agents.

It is not good, the co-op weren't linked to any Tour operator like Thomas Cook, they sold other companies packages so weren't biased to sell a particular company. They used this as a selling point.

Tried both this year - couldn't get within £1000 of what I could do online.

Travel agent's days are numbered (and I was a dedicated customer!!)

Its weird though because when I have priced up next year holiday in cyprus, for the hotel we want, it is coming out dearer as individual booking rather than as package through travel agents.
