I loved the book too, but remember being disappointed with the casting of Richard Chamberlain as the lead in the mini-serires. He just did not fit my image of Father Ralph.

We just set the TiVo to record it. Thank goodness they are playing each episode 3 times so it won't conflict with other shows.
