has anyone flown with Thomas Cook recently from Manchester? We have never travelled long haul with them as usually fly with Virgin. Due to significant price difference on booking we decided to take the cheaper option with Thomas Cook. Anyway just wondered what the flights were like?

Yes we flew with TC last year from Man to MCO .. Absolutely no problems or issues and the plane was equally as good as BA economy IMO, also there flight actually gets into MCO before BA & Virgin so was very smooth getting thru the airport, hoping for the same again this year

Never used them I am a Virgin faithful and also we don't tend to do exactly 14 nights so it doesn't work for us. My co worker has used them and flew on the Dreamliner I think, Manchester to MCO. She was very satisfied. I know two other people via work who have also done the Man MCO route with them and they were both happy too.

TC run a scheduled service now, gone are the days of charter 7, 14 or 21 days.
Thru summer they fly every day, winter 2 days a week.
They are also excellent for 1 way flights, we needed a flight back after our Transatlantic cruise last year, VA wanted £1,000pp TC £230pp (also cheaper booked on Orbitz in $'s)

We had no problems with them but a shock having to pay for a soda, some people didn't have a meal included(we did) no online check in so a bit of a line at MCO to check in and they were mega strict, had me transferring 2kg from one hand luggage to another. Read Matt's blog about the journey here https://mathewgillings.wordpress.com/2014/07/20/day-17-returning-home/

I don't really rate VA, prefer to fly with the American carriers but I use any carrier at the right price.

Thomas Cook don't run the Dreamliner. Thomson do :)

TC is perfectly fine. If you like your peace and quiet avoid Eco, the Premium is a very good offering for the price now.

Their offering has changed since last year in terms of both luggage and drinks availability. Best to check the website.

Only downside is having to use Manchester Airport, it's boring and the check in staff are slow.

Looks like meal is now included for everyone but hand luggage still 6kg and no doubt still very strict.
Can only see drinks included with meal. Are they included the whole flight now?

Never had a problem at Manchester airport myself, dread going thru Gatwick or Heathrow.

They were in Premium, I don't know about Eco. I'm afraid.

Didn't have any hand luggage weighed, and I've got a full cabin bag size backpack.

When we booked our flights with TC this year it included , 23KG checked baggage, 6KG hand baggage & Meal inc drinks this was economy also..

I have also never had a bad time at Manchester apart from one delayed flight of a couple of hours but that happens everywhere. I find enough airside to keep us occupied. Now. Airside at Orlando International really is rubbish!

We flew tc from Manchester to mco last November. No delays and no problems. I believe they are refurbishing all the planes so should be nice. Would have preferred from bham but nothing available as cheap as tc. We went package and nobody came close with price. We stayed at AoA and got the magical express. Would definitely travel with them again. We have flown virgin in the paased but they are our of our price range at the moment.

All the refurbs are done on the A330s out of Manchester. They do fly from Stansted in the summer but it's not clear if they are refurbed planes or not

Thanks everyone, I'm sure whatever the flight is like we won't really care too much as the best bit will follow. To be honest the last time we went with Virgin we didn't have the best experience so am hoping it is ok.
