Just had a phone call from our Thomas Cook agent who has informed us that our planned flight, January 14th 2010 into Sanford, has been cancelled with no reason what so ever.

Our travel agent is currently trying to find us some "premium" seats on the next available flight.

We normally book this early so we can spread the cost over the year..... and in the past 6 years of travelling to Orlando this is the first time that this has happened to us.

Is this a usual thing to happen this far in advance?

In the current economic climate I would say 'yes', the companies are being cautious and cancelling flights that they do not think will be financially viable. Hoping you find a suitable alternative.

I think it is getting more common. We've just had our summer holiday flights cancelled. We were going to Salou. We now have to drive 4 1/2 hrs to another airport, pay that cost and if the holiday works out dearer we have to pay the difference:scared1: . We get £25 pp comp. If we don't transfer our booking we get no comp. We need to fly a day earlier but they can't get us into our hotel so not sure what we're doing.

Hope you get your holiday sorted without it costing you anymore. They really shouldn't be allowed to do this but its all in the terms and conditions. Really makes me mad though

Just spoken to the very nice lady at TC and she is now saying that all flights to Orlando for Jan and Feb next year have been cancelled and the next available flight is in March and would cost an extra £4000......

Hmmmm don't think so... She is going to phone around for us with other operators and companies to she what see can do.

We can transfer our holiday to anywhere else in the world for free....

** Stamps feet** but we want to go to Orlando in January!!!!!

We can also cancel our holiday and get ALL our money back.....

Didn't mention ALL this in their lovely advert now did...!!!!

:) Still smiling for the moment.

Have you looked at VA or BA for flights next January?

Claire ;)

I think you should re-book very quickly probably with virgin (as they are less likely to cancle florida ) because if the other companies are pulling their flights virgin will probably very quickly increase their prices for those dates

Is it just TC flights and holidays or do you know if it is also their direct holidays and airtours flights as well

Most companies are doing it unfortunately. Our friend has just had a Thompson flight cancelled to Cancun. Our flights to Orlando for August with Delta have been altered 5 or 6 times already, thankfully not cancelled, at least we got Biz class for price of economy.

Virgin have loads of dates in January at £389pp

Hope you get something sorted out :thumbsup2
