Thomas Cook $2 to £1 this weekend on TC's

Just got of the phone to Thomas Cook ordered mine going into collect them today , shopping malls here I come :yay:  :yay:

We're just off to got ours.

It wasn't till we asked them if we needed to order that they noticed the rate.

Doesn't seem like many people know about it in my area.

were of to get ours, yesterday paid of flight in thomas cook and they didnt even mention it to DW.

I spoke to the manager of my local shop as he was putting out a big notice about the offer and he said he knew about it a day before so had ordered plenty.

I didn't think to take my passport so I have to go back but they are open Sunday and Monday so I have plenty of time.

Just picked up my $4000 with a total saving of £210! Girl behind counter told me they were about to run out of TCs. Our local branch is closed Sunday / Monday but she told me they would honour all requests paid in full today for pickup next week.

As an interesting footnote she also told me she was normally authorised to offer a rate of between $1.81 and $1.90 but would only ever offer the best rate if really pushed by the customer...

Just got back from picking up my money and waiting for me at home where my Disney tickets and the new Disney planning DVD , what a great Disney day this is going to be :cool1: :cheer2:

I went into our branch today - no signs on the window or anything! However, they are participating the promotion and even though they are running low they are also honouring all purchases as long as you pay today and collect next week.

However, make sure you take a debit card or cash - there is a 3% fee (which basically wipes out the gains of the $2:£1 rate) for using a credit card.

There is also a charge using debit cards displaying the Visa logo, your bank do not charge you but Visa charge 1.5% as I was advised yesterday when trying to get my $ but the my card was refused OMG lot of money in bank and wont let me have it so had to ring DH at work and transfer money into his savings account and get him to pop down and get the money out via a building society cheque eventually got £2,000.00 worth.

Firstly, thank you to Lizzy Lemon, for such a great post.

We have just been into town today, and picked up $2,000 (already got our $'s but couldn't miss this offer), but just to let you know, we paid in cash, as we were told that even debit cards get charged 2-2.5%!! They won't take a cheque either!

I have my receipt here, used my debit card and receipt is for £1,000 with a discount of £104.97 :cool1:

I paid with my visa debit card and paid £1000 for $2000 - no charges and no mention of charges - I'm sure it's only credit cards that get charged!

I would check your bank statement as I think that is where you will notice it if you have been charged - most debit cards have a cash advance fee charged in these situations by your bank.

I hope not! Will be having words with bank/Thomas Cook if that's the case as I would've just gone and got the cash out if that's the case!!

I paid with a Halifax "Visa" debit card and was not charged anything extra. We were warned last year that there may be a charge but apparently Halifax do not do this (Good job too or I would complain  )
Perhaps it depends on which bank you are with.

Sounds crazy doesn' it - but that's exactly what we have to do.

We usually buy from M & S and they do warn you that your bank may charge you as it's considered a cash advance.

Thomas cook dont charge you, neither do the bank, it is Visa who charge 1.5% whether you use a visa debit or credit card it is still visa. Thomas cook explained this to me so I went and transferred my money into a savings account and got a building society cheque as it is cleared funds and no charge by either. I could not withdraw the money as I only had an £800 limit and the bank said they could not give me £2000 as they were short !!!!!!!!!!
