It's sounds too good to be true and there is nothing about it on the web site!

They are giving an exchange rate of $2 to £1? Have they gone crazy?

Sack Full of Dollars From Thomas Cook

MANCHESTER, England, May 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling has been rising against the dollar as the UK's economic performance continues to contrast with a slowdown in the US. The pound hit a 14-year high earlier in the year, all spelling good news for British visitors to the US.

The pound was last equal to US$2 in 1992, the year the UK was forced to leave the European Exchange Rate Mechanism.

Thomas Cook bounced into the market with its best offer for 14-years. US$2 dollars for every GBP1 pound spent regardless of the rate on the day, plus its commission free. Making the deal the best US Dollar exchange rate ever seen in the UK market.

From today when you exchange GBP1000 sterling into US Dollar travellers cheques, you will get double back in dollars.

Terms and conditions

1. The offer runs from 09:00hrs Thursday 24th May until close of business trading Bank Holiday Monday 28th May. / ends

2. Offer isn't applicable to any dollar product other than traveller Cheques which can easily be used as cash in North America. Excludes notes and the travellers cheque card.

3. Min purchase GBP1000 equivalent with a maximum purchase of GBP3000 equivalent per household.

4. Offer only available through Thomas Cook retail store excludes online, HSBC Bureaux, Airport and standalone Bureaux

I just got all my spending money at $2 to the £!

It's a genuine offer for travellers cheques only £1000 minimum, £3000maximum.

Our local Thomas Cook did have a poster in the window advertising the special rate, but the guy who served me reckoned they would have run out before Monday, so obviously they have a limited amount on offer at that rate.

The cheques are American Express but also carry the Thomas Cook logo.

even thougth weve got nationwide cc were still getting some.too good to miss

My friend works for Thomas Cook and phoned me earlier to let me know so mine are booked to be collected tomorrow! I didn't realise it was a special Thomas Cook thing though.

mo x

Can you buy them by debit card or cheque or do you have to use cash?

I was told that Thomas cook will not be open on Sunday or Bank holiday in my area so Saturday is the last date, if they run out they will honor that dollar rate as long as you pay in full.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm going to our nearest city tomorrow (or later today :lmao: ) to get my spending money!:goodvibes
