This Will Be an Amazing April for the Rebels

Mike - sciatic nerve is doing much better. Little to no problem even on my longer walks. Thank goodness. It really was a "pain in the butt" on many levels.
Keeping up with the schedules and trying to get in more cross training as well. August plans are coming along. My son has finally gotten his airline tickets and still keeps hoping the CG doesn't throw any glitches into his plans now. We are all anxiously awaiting for this celebration. Even have a great Epcot dessert party planned for the newlyweds.
Andrea - good to hear from you. Hope all is well.
Jackie - welcome to the Rebels. Good to have you here.Congratulations on signing up for the Princess. I did that 2 years ago with my daughter and had the best time ever. I did a 5k the previous year and then trained for the Princess starting the Sept prior to the race. It worked out fine. Good luck and keep us informed of your preparations.
Happy summer everyone.............

Jackie Welcome to Team Rebel Alliance. I am registered for Wine& Dine, and will probably run Princess 2012. DW and I used the Galloway training plans for Princess last year, and using a sort-of Galloway plan for Wine&Dine this year. Hope your training for the 5k is going well.

Gretchen Tell us about the family trip. Did it come off OK?

Andrea Welcome back, maybe we will all get better at this when it cools off.

Hi All

I am back to check in. I haven't done well at getting on and posting, but running has been going Ok. I did my final long run before Disneyland yesterday. I got 11 miles in with a time of about 2:05. I was pretty thrilled about that. I think I should be able to do the Disneyland in about 2:30, which I think will be a full hour faster than last year (when I stayed with DH for the entire race) and a half hour faster than my first one (when I walked). I am pretty excited about it.

Jackie - Welcome to the Group! I will try and post more often so our group can be more fun. I think we all sort of took the summer off.

Mike: Thanks for the advice on a 10K. I couldn't find a good one to fit in, but I am not that worried about my corral placement. Other than the pain of dodging people (which I think I would have to do anyway) I like passing people. Gives me a boost (not nice probably, but I like it).

Gretchen: Glad you are feeling better.

If any of you have Facebook accounts, I have found that I am pretty motiviated by other WISH people on there and if you want to be my friend on Facebook (to encourage me to post here more often) I am Amanda Haun Clark. Just let me know you are from WISH and I will be happy to keep up with you there too.

I am also on MyFitnessPal (though I have been a super slacker on that and my weight is proof of that). I think I am Haunny on that. But it is a great tool for losing weight and we have a few WISHers on there too.

Hi all. Quick update. My daughter and I got in under the wire for the Tinkerbell Half in January. We are so excited!! My first time to Disneyland and so looking forward to it. On another note, I'm here in NJ (not WDW) as anticipated. We are not leaving until after Irene now. Son and his wife will be in Disney thank goodness and waiting for the rest of the family to arrive. Hope we don't incur any damages that will delay our trip anymore. Please send pixie dust that Irene calms down a bit and we can get on with the fun parts of life and our vacation. Thanks guys for just being here for us.

Gretchen Sorry your trip is delayed because of Irene, hope you get to see DS and DIL.

Manda Enjoy your taper. Good luck at DL.

We found cheap airfair, so will be at WDW for Labor day weekend. Staying at OKW for the first time. This week was a cut-back week, 6 miles.

Mike

Gretchen: Sorry about Irene messing up your vacation. Hope you get to go and have a GREAT time. I am excited for you and your upcoming Tinkerbell race. I didn't sign up for that one because I already was doing the Las Vegas Rock and Roll in December. Hope you enjoy Disneyland. It is my home park, a lot smaller than WDW but so much like home to me!

Mike: Have fun at WDW over Labor Day. I actually am headed to WDW in October for a conference. I havne't been there since I was little. I think it will be a little but of a shock after all the time I spend at DL.

I am enjoying my easy week. I did 8 miles on Saturday and it went well. My body still would prefer if I would stop at 6 or 7 miles, but I think with the excitement of the race I will do OK. I am just excited to get on the plane on Thursday and go get my Mickey on!

How is everyone doing with their training for the January WDW races? I have started adding a 10 miler every week to my training instead of the 7 mile longest walk I was doing.

Dave:hippie:

Manda Good Luck at Disneyland!

Gretchen COngratulations on getting into Tinkerbell. Let us know how it goes. I hope you are reading this in the world.

Dave Not doing a January Race (Can't plan that far ahead). But I have a 12 mi last week and 14 the weekend after labor day getting ready for Wine&Dine.

Dave: I don't have a January race either. I am doing the R&R Las Vegas in December, but haven't been able to get the funds together to get to the WDW Marathon weekend yet. Someday I will...I hope. Orlando is just really far from Utah!

Mike: Thanks for the Luck. I am sure I will need it. I will report back next week and let you all know how it goes.

AFM: I am leaving in a few hours to California. So excited for the vacation and the run!

How is everyone doing today. I ran my last training run before W&D yesterday. 13.1 Miles. Now I'm watching the 9/11 footage on CBS. This was the guys who were doing a documentary on what it's like to be a rookie firefighter and ended up filming inside the WTC.

Well, we left right after Irene came and made it to Disney World for our family celebration. It was so GREAT to see my son and his wife. We had a family photo session and dessert party which was so much fun. My 3 children and their spouses and kids had a ball. Love the world for family fun.
Daughter has worked up our training plan for the Tinkerbell and I am so psyched.
Thanks everyone for thinking of me and spreading the pixie dust; it worked.
Good luck to all in your upcoming races.
Will be back more regularly now that training has begun.

Mike: Thanks for the support. I had a really great time at Disneyland. I was totally excited to get that time. It is officially 19 minutes off my personal record. Thrilled. Hope you have a great time with W&D.

Gretchen: Glad you had a good trip. You will have so much fun at Disneyland. It is definently different that WDW, but is special, in its own little way. The race will be a little more boring, going through beautiful industrial Anaheim. :-) But I love the DL half every year. I didn't sign up for Tink this year because I already had a December race and I can't afford that many more.

It is time for me to get back on with the running. I took way too much time off after the half. My Grandpa passed away the day I got home from Cali and with all the funeral stuff and just feeling depressed I totally got out of the rhythm. But I have a race in December (Rock and Roll Las Vegas) so I had better get back into it. I know my body is mad at me for not running. But I have just been having trouble finding the time to go out!

Mike- How was Labor Day Weekend at OKW? That is our Home resort and we love it there. :lovestruc We find it very relaxing and comfortable. That is where the family stayed for our celebration. Not too long now for your race. I love the cutback days. I've just started the training with my daughter for the Tinkerbell and can't help remembering how long those long days were especially when it snowed. Hope we have better training weather this time.:wizard:
Manda- Glad you had such a great race. Way to go.:thumbsup2 I am so looking forward to going to Disneyland. I have always wanted to see it and I think that is why my daughter up and made all the plans for the Tink. Do you have any suggestions as to where we should stay? We would like to be close to the start without paying the high price of PP or GC. I would have used some DVC points but I had to borrow for our family trip this Aug. and husband does not want to use any more. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Hope all is well with Team Rebels. :grouphug:

Gretchen: It is hard to say where to stay. It all depends on what is important to you. We always stay just across the street from the walk in entrance. This last time we were at the Best Western Park Place. I have pretty much stayed in all the hotels along Harbor at one time or another, and they are much the same. Most of them are definently not four star. They are motels, but I like how close they are. I know a lot of DISers stay at the HOJO. I have never been there. It is just a little farther away. There are a lot of nice hotels that run shuttles and a pretty nice tram (the ART) that runs around. But we are cheap and just love being able to walk back to the hotel any time we want.

AFM: I am back to training. I did a 3 miler Wednesday and honestly it was hard! I didn't realize how bad taking a couple weeks off would be. Hopefully I will be able to catch up with myself pretty soon. I am hoping to do even better in my half in December than I did at Disneyland.

Thanks Manda for the input.:) Like you, we want to be near the entrance with the ability to walk in and out. We also hoped to be near the start of the race which looks like near PP. We definitely are looking for reasonable rates. I do appreciate your help.
Yup, getting back to routine is rough. It is a bit easier each day. I did the same and sort of relaxed since my last race and am working hard to get back for the Tinkerbell. I am a walker so hopefully I can get back to my good race pace before January.
TTFN

Gretchen:I am happy to give you any information you need. The race start and finish is on the end of Downtown Disney, so it is a little bit of a walk from the close "good neighbor" hotels, but it is a nice warm up. Kind of sucks after the race, but not too bad. Good luck on your training for Tinkerbell.

AFM: I did a 5 miler on Saturday. Went better than I expected. I think I should be able to get back into the swing of things.

Manda- Thanks. Will definitely let you know what we come up with. Spoke with DD last night and she is working on schedules and plans (hope it doesn't cost me too much:rotfl2:). Anyways, glad to hear you had a good 5m. :thumbsup2
Mike- How's things going?

AFM- getting back into the swing of things. Starting week 2 of my training schedule and all is well. Body seems to be responding OK. Haven't gotten to the long miles yet so we will see. The goal of the Tinkerbell and going to Disneyland is a wonderful incentive:lmao:
Have a great day everyone.

Hi guys, sorry I was gone for so long. Two trips to Disney got me behind at work. Wine and Dine was fun. Organization and bag check was much better this year. They added a wave and staggered them more, which helped a lot with the crowding. Last 1/2 mile was some twisting backstage roads with little crowd support and never knowing which turn was the last. It was cool that the finish line announcer said mine and DWs names. There was supposed to be beer and wine at the finish, but they only had beer. That was fine with me, but since DW is gluten free, it was not with her. The cast member who told her "The Website made a mistake" didn't choose her words closely enough.

I registered for Princess again.

Gretchen, I'm glad you got a chance to see your family at Disney. I love OKW it's a great place to stay when relaxing and good weather. Good luck with the Tink training.

Manda, sorry about your Grandfather. Sometimes running helps with that mentally also. I went for a run the day my dad died.

Mike

Manda - Hope all is going well. Daughter is making the ressies for Disneyland and thanks again for all your input.
Mike - Glad you had a good time at the Wine and Dine. I love the Princess race and would do it again but this year it's Tink. Think we might do the Wine and Dine 2012 though so we can get the C2C. Have to see.
AFM - I'm plugging along with the training schedule and it seems to be easier this time to recoup and move forward. I'm hoping to get the speed back up so I have more leeway time at the race.
Take care all.
