This Weekend: Arrive Saturday or Sunday?

We have Deluxe APs and live in the Bay Area, so we do a lot of last-minute short trips to Dland. We have one planned to arrive this weekend and leave on Tuesday. We are last minute planners, so haven't booked hotels yet, but vacancies don't seem to be an issue this weekend.

We are debating whether to arrive in Anaheim on Sat or Sun. We can't get into the parks on Sat due to AP B/O, so not sure how we'd fill the rest of the day after we arrive mid-afternoonish. Nothing else in LA or OC area interests us too much. But we would be able to get in at rope drop on Sunday though.

If we arrive Sunday I guess we save a night of hotel, but wouldn't get into the park until evening time. But Sundays are usually crowded (more so this one with Dapper Day), and I don't do too well with huge crowds, so we might have sat out the parks during midday Sunday anyways.

Anyways, what are your opinions on this?

I'd arrive on Saturday to have extra time to relax at the hotel, get dinner, shop at DTD, get a drink at Trader Sam's, or just chill in the room and be ready to go Sunday morning. It might be crowded, but extra time in the park is always better than less time in the park!

You could leave later on Saturday. If there's nowhere you want to stop and nothing to fill an afternoon, stay home for longer in the morning.

Our family always likes arriving the day before our first DL day so that we can get a good night's rest and be up early to hit the parks at rope drop the following morning. You could have dinner at DTD and go see the new Disney nature movie at the DTD AMC theater...I think it's about pandas this year. Our family has gone to see the Disney nature documentary every year and we've really enjoyed them.

I would arrive on Saturday. Sunday morning rope drop is my favorite time in the park. It's so quiet, you'll practically have NOS all to yourselves!

I would arrive Saturday too. We are from close to the Bay area and end up making last minute trips a lot. I think showing up and hanging out in DTD, having a character meal or just watching the fireworks from the esplanade would be fun. Early Sunday mornings are so lovely in the park. But, I always try to get as many days in the park as I can, so I guess I'm biased.

I would also arrive on sat, my family always like to arrive a day earlier, relax around DTD, eating, drinking, hit the bed early to get up bright and early for rope drop.

We are arriving on a Saturday and hanging out I need DTD that night. Planned on getting in the parks early Sunday. Guess that was a good decision :). Now to think of where to go first..

Sunday mornings are just bliss. Have a great trip!!
