This Trip Was Her Wish
Hiya everybody! Welcome to my very first Disney Pre-Trip Report! I am so excited to share my plans for our upcoming trip. First, let me take a moment to introduce myself. Just like everyone else on DIS boards I have a slight Disney obsession. Hi, my name is Nicole and I love everything Disney. My first trip to WDW was when I was in the 3rd grade (1989). From then on my family went for spring break and for two weeks every August. This tradition lasted until college when adulting started to get in my way. I try to get back whenever I can. Luckily, my parents retired in Orlando so that makes things a little easier. My DH likes Disney but not as much as I do. He refuses to spend all of our vacations at Disney (booooooo!) I finally got out to DL last year. We had a great time but nothing compares to The World in my opinion!
Here is a quick list of some of my Disney favorites:
Character: Mary Poppins
Park: Epcot
Ride: Spaceship Earth
Snack: Sweet pretzel with almonds
Favorite Restaurant: Boma (Breakfast)

Last but not least, I love to collect Minnie ears. The first thing I do when I walk into MK is go to The Chapeau to buy some new ears!
Enough about me, let's talk about this trip!!! I have been chosen by my in laws to do all the planning. Our trip is not for another year and 4 months but my anticipation is driving my DH nuts. So here I am, sharing with all of you. I hope that my planning amps up the excitement for your future trip or brings back some wonderful memories!
Who’s going on this trip you ask? Me (37) and my DH (31) will probably go out to Orlando a few days earlier to visit with my parents. My DFIL (61), DSIL (34), DBIL (35), DN (5), & DN (1) will be joining us and we will meet at the resort! This is going to be my DBIL and both DN’s first trip to WDW. That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited. I love going to Disney with people who have never been before. You get to watch them experience the everything for the first time. It’s priceless! I’m sure many of you would agree.
My DFIL is so gracious and will be treating all of us to this trip. You see, my DMIL was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2014. In 2015, she was in remission. Later that year, I was invited to join her on a trip to WDW with her cousin and brother to celebrate her remission. Durning that trip she expressed how she wanted to come back to Disney with the whole family to celebrate her 5th year of remission. She was so excited about taking my DN5 on his first trip to Disney. She must have asked every person we saw with children at our resort or on transportation how much their children were loving Disney. Sadly, my DMIL’s cancer returned soon after we got back from our trip. She lost her battle in November 2016. My DFIL knows how much this trip meant to her. So we will be celebrating her memory as well as being together just like she would have wanted. Family was everything to her!
One of my favorite trips to WDW was during the first week of December. You cannot beat Disney durning Christmas. It just adds to the magic! The crowd size was so manageable as well. My DSIL is a teacher and I have talked her out of visiting Disney durning her breaks. My DN1 still needs a stroller and with the large crowds it would be a nightmare. She agreed that December sounded more enjoyable and didn’t mind using some PTO for the trip! So we settled on December 1-6, 2020.
I have stayed at SSR, CSR, and POR( when it was still Dixie Landings). I have stayed at CSR for multiple trips and loved it. After much convincing from other DIS members, I plan to book our reservations at Wilderness Lodge. I am unable to book until this Sunday but you know I will be on the phone at 7:00 am!! I cannot wait to stay there after hearing all of the great feedback about the resort at Christmas. This will be a first for everyone in the group so it will be awesome to experience it together! I will sign off for now. I’ll give an update Sunday after I book the rooms! Once again, welcome to my PTR, I hope you stick around to see all my fun plans!
