This time we did it right! We're back!

For your request, did you just say Zebra Trail or did you request a specific floor? I can't keep up with the info on the AKL thread, so I'm hoping to use you for Cliffs notes!

You have to do costumes for the MNSSHP! Are you going to trick or treat?

My husband hates it when I put the ears on our dog! He says I'm humiliating her when I put them on. Silly DH, how could Mickey ears humiliate ANYone?

I just said Zebra Trail since the construction on the trail SHOULD be done by then according to the map. I will see how things go between now and then and may add more but I already have that request plus a King Size bed request. Those are my top 2 requests right now since it is the honeymoon and it will be 6 months since I saw DFi. :rolleyes1

Well trying to get DFi in a costume will be very difficult...I am not even sure how excited he is about MNSSHP, he just has no choice and is going. As for trick or treating I am not sure how much of that we will be doing since we are both trying to lose weight and DFi is wierd and doesn't like too much candy. But like I have mentioned before if we don't wear costumes we WILL be wearing T-shirts I make!

That is like my BIL he hates it when we put little handkerchief's on my DS and his dogs for the holidays. We do it just for his reaction though it is too funny!

Gotcha on the King Size bed request. ;)

Okay, with your permission, I'm going to be stalking you for updates on the construction because I can't seem to figure that out for myself!

Thanks!

Loving your pre-trippie and the adorable doggie pics! Keep it coming!

Thanks for reading!

Today, I talked to the Italian, and he said to definitely count him out of the trip because he will be going to Italy for 3 weeks and won't have any vacation time left over. Let me explain here that the reason the Italian was the first pick was because he is a guy. We figured that Doc would be appreciative of having another male member of the group.

So with this news, I made a call to my cousin and asked her if she would like to go with us. She was on a bike ride with her brother and sister (ages 11 and 13) and did not want to talk about it in front of them, so she said she would call me later. Meanwhile, I'm dying...

When will she call?

When will she call?

WHEN WILL SHE CALL?!?!

15 minutes later, she texted me and said she's home. I called her immediately and told her the details.

She said that she was considering visiting her other cousin in London in the fall, so she might not be able to go.

Well, I told her about AKL and MNSSHP and she is 90% sure she will come with us!

So a formal introduction is in order!

Let me introduce Sleepy, 31.

P3300094.jpg

Sleepy is my cousin, one of my dearest friends, and is always ready for an adventure. She works as an engineer and is very logical and deliberate about things. (total opposite of me!) She is a lover of fine food, a good book, the outdoors, the opera, an afternoon nap, and traveling. Her Disney history? She's been there once in her life (poor girl). She went as a 12 year old with her family and an aunt and uncle and 3 cousins of ours.

Sleepy's biggest concern with the trip is telling her 11 year old sis (my goddaughter) and 13 year old bro that she is going to Disney World without them. I told her not to worry, we're going back when I turn 30 and everyone's invited. Nevertheless, they will be begging for the next 3 months to go with us. Can't say I blame them!

Sleepy said she would decide within the week if she will go for sure. I know sleepy about as well as I know myself, and I say she's in! ;) Gotta order her MNSSHP ticket. Speaking of which, Sleepy is VERY crafty and also LOVES Halloween, so our costumes will be even better!

I am very, very excited about Sleepy joining us on the trip. :woohoo:

DH and I were driving home from our weekly Costco trip when my mother-in-law called DH. At some point, I heard DH say "I know Julie's (that's me) in no matter what."

So when he got off the phone, I waited patiently for him to tell me what he was talking about.

He said his mom wants to meet up with us and treat us to a Disneyland trip for DH's birthday (in December)!!!! :yay:

DH pretended to be aloof, but I could tell he's excited. I was, of course, jumping up and down with excitement. I said (shouted) "We're going to be at Disneyland for your 30th birthday, then we'll be at Disneyworld for MY 30th birthday in 2 years!"

I've never been to Disneyland, but I'm very excited to go and see what it's all about. DH has been there (he lived in LA between the ages of 1 and 5), but he doesn't remember it. DMiL loves it there. She grew up in LA and used to go to Disneyland all the time.

So now I have to (I should say have the privilege of) start learning about Disneyland! :cool1:

Gotcha on the King Size bed request. ;)

Okay, with your permission, I'm going to be stalking you for updates on the construction because I can't seem to figure that out for myself!

Thanks!

You may stalk my construction updates...I am just going by a map I saw that had the proposed plans. I am also trying not to freak out about the construction like many people have the tendancy to do. I have read a couple of post recently saying you can hear a lot of construciton and other posts that say you can hardly tell it is going on. It is so hard to tell since people in general have a tendancy to exaggerate. We shall see what happens but I think Zebra Trail will be the best request. That way you will either get Arusha (the main savanna) or Uzima Savanna. Uzima is near the pool and when I was there last year always had a good amount of animals on it plus all the construction is going on beyond the Sunset savannah off Kudu trail. Does that all make sense? If not feel free to ask.

That is a picture from Uzima Savanna near the pool from my trip last year! Just thought you would like to see some pictures to get you in the AKL mood.

BTW I am excited that Sleepy will most likely be joining you for you trip. Y'all will have a great time and you should have a great time for you DH's b-day in Disneyland also!!!

Thanks for the picture! It's great...I can't wait!

Okay, I'm just going to call and request Zebra trail with a non-king bed and leave it at that.

Thanks so much for your help. :goodvibes

Hope Sleepy is able to make it - sounds like a fun group! :thumbsup2

That's awesome about DL, too!! :) I've been there once - I was 9 - so, I don't remember a lot about it (or rather, it blurs together with WDW in my head) & when I was there it was only DL, no DTD or California Adventure. Should be a good time!! :thumbsup2

Ding came through again! They had some Chicago to Orlando fares today, so DH texted me as soon as he got to work and saw them. Then I called Sleepy immediately, and she booked her flight. She got arrival and departure times VERY close to my own, so it will be perfect. :woohoo:

I am so excited!

I e-mailed Sleepy about the Hollywood Brown Derby and told her it's too bad we won't be able to wear our cocktail dresses. Sleepy wrote back and said "Yes, but we can wear our scarves and sunglasses...they will easily fit into our bags!" So we WILL be able to dress like movie stars...incognito movie stars! :cool2:

I hope the cousin can go, too. That will be a fun addition. Also, luvfigment's AKL picture---VERY NICE!

I love the idea of dressing like movie stars just for the fun of it. What a fun bunch to be going on a trip with. I feel your excitement!!!

I didn't know they have DTD at DL! I have lots of research to do!

I was looking for some Halloween pics from years past, but they're pretty bad. Sleepy was something really scary a couple years ago and I don't think it's DIS appropriate. I was white trash this year and my costume was raunchy, so I don't know if that's DIS appropriate either!

I hope the cousin can go, too. That will be a fun addition. Also, luvfigment's AKL picture---VERY NICE!

My cousin is in for sure! She purchased her plane ticket today and I ordered her MNSSHP ticket today. I'm so happy!

I just found your report! Sounds like all of you are going to have a blast!! It also sounds like you are going to be very busy traveling this year. I am very jealous!! ;)

Looking forward to reading more. :flower3:

Woohoo! A fun cousin coming, plus a trip to Disneyland! What great news all around. :)

Great news is right! Now if we could just fast forward a little bit, I'd be in heaven!!! :rotfl2:

We're trying to get all our traveling in before we have kids. We know the money will be tighter when little ones come into the picture! Thanks for reading. :goodvibes

I have a few questions. :confused3 If anyone can answer these questions, I will be very grateful!

Here we go:

1. What is the best counter service restaurant (in your opinion) at Magic Kingdom? We're planning on eating at Pecos Bill's the night of MNSSHP. We would like to eat somewhere else the other day we are at MK.

2. My cousin must start her day with coffee every day. Can one put coffee in those refillable mugs at the resorts? Do they have coffee makers available at AKL?

3. Is the Main Street Bakery open during the Little Ones EMH at MK? Or does it wait until official park opening to open?

4. What is the best grocery store to stop at on the way from MCO to WDW? (Considering prices and proximity to the interstate.)

5. How do we find out when Off Kilter and Voices of Liberty perform? Are the times on those Times Guides?

That's all for now! Thank you in advance for any help you can offer. :goodvibes

I'm not much of a Disney expert but I'll try to help if I can!!

1. We ate at Cosmic Ray's and it was pretty good. The meals were huge! One meal could easily be shared among two adults. There's a Mexican place open seasonally that I'd like to try too. (Can't remember the name, El Pirate maybe?)

2. Yes, you can put coffee in the mugs. No idea about AKL though, sorry!

3. Not sure

4. I am reading the Unofficial Guide at the moment and it's compares three local, popular grocery stops. I can dig up that info at home later if you want!

5. I think so! :)

How did I miss that in the Unofficial Guide?!? :confused3 I have that very book sitting not two feet away from me! I'll check it out...thanks!

Good to know you can put coffee in the mugs. I'm not a coffee drinker, so I've never done that...only pop!

I'm on my way to check out the description of Cosmic Ray's. Thanks for your help!

The UPS man just delivered my Cotton Candy Cayman Crocs (how's that for alliteration?!?)

I have to say they are quite the eyesores in size 10! Why are my feet so dang big?!?

As far as comfort...so far, so good!
