Maybe someone can explain it to me better...but I don't get it...and I actually think it 'wrong' in a sense....the tagline..

I saw the commercial last night...and the banner here on the DIS...
Brooke says " Have kids for love, not for German Engineering"...

I just hate that commerical.... Maybe being pregnant is getting me urked over nothing... :headache:

I can see the humour in it but yeah I think its a little stupid.

I thought it was stupid, too. Yeah, I am going to have a baby so I can buy a mini-van. Now...maybe for a bentley! HA!:goodvibes

I'm with you! It sure is a dumb commercial. It boggles my mind that for what they paid an advertising firm for that commercial that that was the best they could come up with. :confused3

What i don't get is that this new VW van is just a Grand Caravan with a few minor styling changes and a slightly more upscale interior. It is built by Chrysler. Was the world clamoring for a more deluxe Caravan?:confused3

Come on folks...did you leave your sense of humor in your other pants? Of course, the ad is silly and above all memorable. I have never heard of a commercial garnering so much attention since what's her name uttered the immortal words "where's the beef".

It makes no sense and it's not supposed too. It's just supposed to get your attention. Sounds like it's a success.

The one that makes me chuckle every time I see it is the new sandwich from Domino's Pizza. The one where the girl that works for a sub-place says to a co-worker..."it won't be a problem, their a pizza place" He replies, after he takes a bite out of one..."yea it will, these things are freaking great." :rotfl:

I'm definitely not pregnant and I also found the commercial objectionable. I wondered what Brooke Shields was thinking, actually.

Totally don't get it. :confused3 I, too, wondered what Brooke was thinking doing those (I just saw another one tonite -- even more confusing than the first) commercials. I like VW cars, but those commercials are very bizarre.

They are so stupid, really, they are.:sad2:
DH was watching it and all he had to say was "Wow, Brooke is still really hot".

I think I have a great sense of humor
I dont' laugh once at this commercial.....at all...

The 'freaking great' commercial however?? I crack up everytime :happytv:

It's satire. A joke. I think it's funny. But not all have that kind of sense of humor. But the last thing I would say is that it is wrong since it isn't trying to be serious.

I am so glad that I was not the only one who didn't think/know what this commerical was about. I have the wrong kind of sense of humor I guess!

BTW, Brooke still does look really good. You have to at least hand it to her!

I think its funny. I also think its cool that the ad rollers on the dis can pick-up the thread topic and put that ad at the top an d bottom of this thread.

I saw that last night for the first time and said "wth?" It made no sense to me at all.

Whether you find it funny or not, I just have to say that Brooke looks better now than she ever has, and that's saying something. Some women just get more beautiful with age.

She looks fabulous.

And I find the commercial funny. Maybe because I own a VW and I'm pregnant. :confused3

It's definitely very funny and very clever. I would never buy a German car, though, good commercial or not.
