This Stinks.. When did this start happening?

They have always asked for my agent's name when I rebook onboard. I gladly tell then it's Cathy. It makes it a lot easier not having to redo things as well.

I just tried to transfer my Disney Cruise ressie to Dreams and this is what I received:

Thank you for considering Dreams Unlimited Travel.

We have received your request to transfer your current Disney Cruise Line reservations to Dreams Unlimited Travel and we are working on those now.

Due to changes in Disney Cruise Line policy that affect the commissions paid to travel agencies on transferred reservations we are unable to offer you the same shipboard credit on these reservations that we could if these were direct/new bookings with our agency. The shipboard credit amount we can offer you for these transferred reservations would be $50.00 per stateroom. Our offer does not have any effect on any discount or shipboard credit you are to receive from Disney Cruise Line.

Wow, $50.?
That's the same as AAA and I can actually talk to someone if I transfer to them.In person too.

Did everyone know about this or am I just out of the loop?

I should add that we have transfered to them twice already and received $100.00 for each room the last 2 times.

Actually, AAA is not giving onboard credit anymore.

We named DU as our TA when we rebooked, but DCL never sent our rebook information to them.

I had to do it myself (not that it was hard) and did get the transfer done with no problems. I just thought that it was strange that DCL never sent our booking to DU.

If DCL doesn't forward the information to Dreams, how would we prove that we had mentioned the TA to DCL?

I would like to know this also as I am interested in rebooking. Could someone tell me where I rebook and can I do this on any day of the cruise?

Yes, I just found this out myself.

Thank you for your replies to my post. It appears that Dreams stateroom credit is still the best I am able to find for a transfer. I just wish I would have known about this sooner.

We booked on board in April last year-2009 and were able to transfer to DREAMS when we got home and received $100.00 for each room. We would have transfered about July/ Aug of 2009. My post was just trying to figure out WHEN this policy had changed and to let everyone know our experience, in case they are in the same situation.

I have found that 99% of the time DCL will send the appropriate notification when a reservation is booked onboard. The rest are usually 'caught' with the Welcome Home email that is sent to DU clients when they return home from their cruise. That usually triggers a conversation about the onboard booking and will result in DU contacting DCL about your rebooking and getting it all straightened-out.

If you are concerned that DCL might not name the TA you want when you rebook on the cruise make sure you get the name of the DCL rebooking agent and note the date/time you made the booking along with your reservation number. Armed with this information, I'm sure your TA and DCL will get it straightened out. Try not to worry about it and enjoy your cruise!!

The rebooking desk on The Magic and The Wonder is on Deck 4, just above the atrium. They are open only when out at sea and the hours are very limited (they're posted on the daily Navigators). They also have large cards sitting by the desk that you can fill out and have the agent get back to you with a quote during the cruise. If you like the quote, then be sure to contact them back to pay the deposit and get your confirmation. :thumbsup2

This does stink! I've got two onboard ressies I've been sitting on. I like to hold the ressie until the dates are set in stone. Oh well. :sad2:
