This sounds so superficial but I need some advice.

Check out the hats linked above. They are super lightweight and have ventilation so the heat doesn't get trapped inside the hat :thumbsup2 They're available on Amazon with free returns, if you have prime, so you could check them out in person to see if they would
work for you.

Thanks for the tip, the sundancer hat is kinda adorable!

I bought the Riviera hat on page three before my family's first trip. It was the best purchase I made. My face burns very easily but even when I forgot my sunscreen, I was fine. Three years later, my hat still looks great because it can be folded and twisted and will bounce right back.
It can be folded up? That's awesome, I will order that!

I respect your need, but there is zero reason to jump on someone for their use of what you clearly understand is hyperbole.

To OP: if a big floppy hat doesn't work for you, a light head scarf, wrapped around your neck might work, but I find that to be hotter.
thank you ! English is not my first language but hyperbole or not, I really don't care. I just know that I have learnt a new word. Ha ha ha ...... Some people are so serious, life is too short!

Cute
I'm very fair. I wear a baseball cap in the parks. I recommend this one since it's white and repels the sunlight, as opposed to a dark color which would absorb sunlight. And most importantly it has a sequin Mickey on it lol.

With the Velcro back I can secure it around my purse handle or easily put it in my bag during rides.

I think a big floppy hat might be more cumbersome / tedious to deal with on rides.

Cute hat!

Good that I don't like parades! Great recommendation ! :thanks:
Also plan your park days to avoid long extended periods in direct sunlight, use EMH and RP to get as much done early in the day, always seek out A/C and shade when standing or moving around the parks, do not end up standing in long lines in direct sun for hours, including parades (find shade from which to watch parades), plan evening returns to the park. And of course sunscren, hat and plenty of fluids.

I have extremely light skin and I love it. I also burn easy.
I bought a child size umbrella and it's the perfect size for a parasol. I also use SPF 100 ... it's pretty much thick paste.
Plus I have a hat with a bill that I ride with when on rides that go outside. I have long hair and put my ponytail/bun through the back opening to keep the hat on my head.

Also, I have tested the SPF 100 compared to 40/50 (at a Disney water park no less!) and it definitely did protect more. Tested with me, SO and friend doing the exact same activities with same reapplication times through the day (very bright/hot day in July). I didn't get near as burnt as them :D

I will be standing on the surface of the sun when my family and I are in DW in the 1st week of JUN.
I am worrying as usual because my face has really got really bad hyperpigmentation from 10 years of sunbathing in California. I have used so many different expensive products and finally get my pigment lightened a bit. And now, once again, I will need to stand under the sun for at least 8 hours a day for 6 days! What should I do? Last time it was 2 years ago, we went around March so that sun was not as bad. I used plenty sunscreen and I also had my big sunglasses on.

I am wondering if you have similar problems like I do? What do you wear on your face to protect your delicate skin? I really wish that my teenage kids will allow me to wear a mask. You know, I am not shy and I don't care what people say. (J/K) Anyway, please let me know if you have any great ideas or products that you have used before to protect you from the sun. Thanks ahead of time!
Our family doesn't have sensitive skin, but I agree with the hats. And make your ADRs during high sun and maximize indoor activities during that time. Also, take along a great after sun product for bedtime. They can make all the difference on how you feel the next day if you do get a burn.

That's a great idea.

I need to protect my skin from the sun because of skin cancer. I have a wonderful floppy hat but it is really a pain to take on and off and hold for rides. And it doesn't cover the tops of my shoulders, which tend to burn. A hat is hot, too. I had an umbrella with me on the last trip and decided to use it for the sun. It worked great, especially since it was a small umbrella. I am looking for a lightweight small umbrella for our June trip. I think I'll check out children's umbrellas.

:)

I think the last time I was at Disney they were selling parasols near haunted mansion... But probably much cheaper to buy off amazon or something haha.

Use a UV umbrella. You can find them online.

Have you used one in Disney? How did it go? did anyone stare at you?
I have only used a hat at Disney once. And no, nobody stared. There are a lot of people with hats. People are there to have fun. Nobody will stare at you or laugh. So don't worry about that. :)

Please, no umbrellas. Potential hazard to anyone around.

It's not different than when people pull them out while it's raining.

An umbrella was a life saver for me several years ago. I had gotten a pretty bad sun burn and was in a lot of pain, even with sunscreen on, out in the sun. My aunt bought me an umbrella on our Universal day and it was great to keep the sun off. My burn was so bad, the fire from the old Jaws ride was hurting. I see people, usually older people, using umbrellas in the parks all the time. My mom used one when she had gotten a scooter without a canopy. Some people need to stay out of the sun. Just be aware of your surroundings and you will be fine.

Probably not as much as people looked at me when I wore the umbrella hat with Mickey ears I bought at Mouse Gear in Epcot. It sits slightly above the head so air can circulate, while keeping your head shaded. It's a much smaller circumference, so less likely to poke someone's eye, and it's water proof, so if it rains and I put on my poncho, I can leave the hat on instead of using the poncho hood (I hate poncho hoods - I feel like my face becomes a river, lol!).

And no, I don't wear it anywhere other than Disney . . .I have a regular umbrella with Mickey ears for that . . .:rolleyes1

Umbrellas are risky in the rain in crowded places, when they're likelier to be unfurled. They can be even more hazardous in nice weather, when they're not expected. We all need to remember we're not in the parks alone.

Yes, we all need to remember we are not in the parks alone and if someone needs to use an umbrella to keep the sun off them, they are more than welcome to do that. If we all are aware of our surroundings than I really don't see a problem. Not really much different than the person with the huge backpack on, turning around suddenly and knocking someone over, and yes that has happened to me. As long as the person using it is careful and considerate about where they open and close, I really don't see the issue. Not that I have seen many using umbrellas when it's not raining, but a few, mostly older people.
