What age do children need a valid train ticket?
I'm finding it hard to find out I've been to my train operators website and it doesn't state.

I rarely take the girls on the train but we are going to see Playhouse Disney in Hammersmith tomorrow and I don't think I've ever bought a train ticket for either of the girls but now eldest DD is 5 I'm sure I should be buying a ticket.
Do I need one for a two and a half year old too?

As far as First Great Western go, children need a ticket from the age of 5. I am pretty sure your youngest wouldn't need a ticket but your best bet would be to ask when you get to the station or whenever you plan to book your tickets. Hope you have a good time

I also don't know this(so would also like to know),it used to be 5 but i am pretty sure they did change the age to higher last year.I do know that you deffinatley don't need a ticket for an under 5.x.

def still 5, under 5's do not pay but are also not allowed a seat, if you want a seat you pay half teh adult fare on standard tickets but not discounted on certain advance tickets (although depends on teh train company, its so damn complicated, roll on september when they change the fare rules!)

I just strolled around to the station and it is age five on southeastern
:-( first ticket I've had to buy!

yes it is 5, I have got the train regularly with my DD since she was a baby.
