For those who don't know, TikiMan pages will no longer be posting "unofficial information" and has been everything but shut down by Disney. TikiMan did confirm that Disney did indeed approach him about not publishing that content. His official statement on Facebook is here. Really great site and a real shame that instead of fixing its own problems, Disney has decided to go after those that point them out. Kudos to Steve for handling this with grace. I'd be curious to see what DIS team thinks though. Thoughts?

I don;t have facebook so I would be inerested in what disney said to him. Would seem to me that Disney is now tryin t cotrol freedom of speech.

I don't think you understand what "freedom of speech" means...

why don't you explain it to me then

It's not as simple as freedom of speech, it's violating privacy when posting leaked or unofficial information.

I think it's really a sign that Disney understands how popular his site and facebook page really are. It's too bad really because getting unofficial rumors and info from his site has always been a lot of fun for us Poly fans.

I think the biggest problem was that disney really held back with this construction project, it was handled poorly and his site, along with the Dis did a great job of giving real information on what was the reality of the situation, disney came off looking bad in the communication department .

"If someone sends me photos of construction going on around the resort I will share it but not comment on what it is because officially its not happening."

um, ok...likely a reasonable tradeoff to keep the legal beagles happy.

I utilized the very informative and concise information contained within his site for specific planning purposes vs looking for rumors as to up & coming developments re the Poly.

certainly understandable that many hate the idea of losing their 'source' that has kept them updated over the years.

Best of luck to Tikiman in whatever format he decides to continue.

I was wondering what happened to his page

Too bad...good stuff

I agree. I always liked his site and it was fun following the speculation. It sounds like Disney felt that the site was stealing some of their thunder, perhaps. I can't say that I blame Disney for wanting to handle/control their own PR.

It was more the fact that people referenced him and his site when talking to CM's at the resort and the guests were educating the CM's on what was actually happening.

What a nice problem for Disney to have, such devoted, and may I be so bold as to suggest obsessive fans of their product, that they have to get the legal team involved to shut down a fan divulging information about an upcoming hotel/restaurant renovation. Many restaurants and resorts across the world would LOVE to have the kind of publicity this corporation gets. How arrogant for them to expend such energy and effort into silencing a dedicated fan, instead of focusing on making their product the finest it could possibly be. God speed, Tikiman, thank you for all your time and work in keeping us up to date! I have enjoyed hearing your appearances on various podcasts and wish there were more in the Disney community like you.

This is such sad news! His sight was always so helpful. It will be a huge loss for Poly fans.
