Had a total hip replacement a week ago today- and can I just say this sucks. I can hardly move- my hip and leg have a mind of their own and I have an 8 inch incision- I feel like Frankenstein.

If I posted this before I apologize- I've been on pain killers.

It does suck but when it is completely healed you will feel so much better than before surgery. DH had his at age 49. He put it off until he was confident in the hardware and it has been great. We had gone to WDW prior to his surgery and he was in a lot of pain and didn't enjoy walking around. After surgery, we hiked in Hawaii.

I am sorry you are having a hard time with it. I had a different surgery 4 months ago - a spinal lumbar fusion - and I still have some pain from it. And it took 2 months before I really felt better.

Good luck and just remember to rest! You are only one week out!

My husband had his done this past May. I assume you were given exercises to do right? Make sure you are doing them as directed. Are you seeing a physiotherapist? If not, is that something you can do? How often did they tell you to get up? Though this things appear to be a pain, they will help. Have faith, things will get better.

I see you live in Maine. I hope you can stay inside for awhile and avoid walking on ice/snow.

I was afraid you were going to be in pretty bad shape.. :( I'm glad that you're at your mom's though and not stuck in some nightmare rehab center like DD's MIL was when she had her knee cap replaced..

Hope you feel better with each passing day..

You are missing some nasty cold weather outside though!!!!! I hope you are keeping warm

I've never had a hip replacement but I have had ACL reconstruction surgery three times and there were many times that I thought it would never get better and I wouldn't be the same as I was before the surgery. It's frustrating but you'll recover. It may not feel like it now, but it will get better.

Here's a hug  (a careful hug not to bump your hip) and best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Thanks everyone. Today is better- my PT came today and we worked hard so I am sore, but I feel like I accomplished something!:thumbsup2 As of today I am using crutches instead of the walker so that is a step in the right direction.

Glad to hear it.. :goodvibes

Will you be able to return home for Christmas? :santa:
